We had another great weekend at Caledon Dressage, including Silver Lower Level High Point of the weekend!

A big congratulations to Lynda Cooper and her gelding Nashua on the completion of their "Century Ride" this past weekend. Its been a long road for both of them to get to this point and we so proud of their perseverance in reaching this milestone accomplishment!
Cute as a button, this coming 5 year old Secret/Florestan gelding is available. A great temperament, safe and fun undersaddle, and three amazing gaits will make him a great partner. While he is working towards dressage currently, he would excel in the hunter rings as well. Please message us if you would like more information.
Diamante (Damsey/Waikiki) is pretty proud of her big ribbon for being Caledon Dressage Year End Champion at Bronze First Level! Many thanks to Sharon Millman, Di's owner for letting me develop this wonderful little mare we bred, and to all the volunteers at Caledon Dressage for continuing to make these shows possible for us. We are already looking forward to next season!
Baillon (Belissimo/Welser) also participated in her first show at the Caledon Dressage show in early September. Competing at Training Level, this talented red-head became Reserve Champion at Bronze level, and had scores of 68%, 69% and 71%. The highlight was the one judge's overall comment that she was a "beautiful mare with 3 good paces and a little attitude".... but I think the best horses need to have a little attitude 😉
Following her Performance Test weekend, Zesty also went on her first adventure into the world of a show horse, attending Caledon Dressage's last show of the season at the Caledon Equestrian park. Zesty handled the big venue and atmosphere like a pro, and scored a 74.9% in her first test, a high enough score to win the Bronze show Highpoint award for the weekend, and got some very positive comments from the judge. Many thanks as usual to Caledon Dressage for putting on these well-run and welcoming shows, and to all those who sponsor prizes.
September has been catch up time after a busy summer and show season; catching up on all sorts of jobs that were laid aside during the rush of summer, and also taking a bit of time to rest in between before we start into fall harvest on the farm. Still to catch up on though is updates from the end of summer, so firstly, a congratulations to Janet Schaub on her mare "Zest for Life" 's completion of a lovely performance test with the Hanoverian Verband. "Zesty" (Zoom/Vitalis) received great marks for her movement, including an 8.0 for trot, 8.5 for canter and 7.5 for walk, and also receiving a 1A prize for her conformation, and completed her requirements to be named a States Premium mare with the Hanoverian Verband. We her willing temperament and lovely gaits, we are very much looking forward to continuing to develop this mare and for to see what the future has in store for Zesty and Janet! Many thanks to Paula Fedeyko for generously hosting the inspection again at her top-notch facility, and also to Ian Woodley for taking fantastic shots of all the participants!
Just getting home from another weekend at Caledon Dressage. Diamante had a great weekend showing First Level, including scores of 66%, 70% and 73%, and coming home Reserve Champion Bronze. She is such a fun little mare to ride and many thanks the her owner, Sharon Millman, for letting me develop this mare that we bred. These two lovely girls rocked their first horse show of the season this past weekend. Both were in the same division, and both had scores of 65%, 70% and 71% on different days throughout the weekend, so it was a tight race! In the end, Cozette (owned by Judith Rathbone) came home Champion Bronze First Level, and our homebred mare Diamante (owned by Sharon Millman) came home Reserve Champion Bronze First Level. Both were so smart and a joy to ride, and many thanks to their wonderful owners for entrusting them to me to develop. Many thanks to everyone at Caledon Dressage for their always welcoming and well-run shows, and also to Gasparini Training/Charlee's Fly Spray, Paramount Saddlery and Blackhorse Biomechanics for their generous donation of prizes.
This week Suzie and I participated in the Christoph Hess clinic held by Topline Events at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Suzie was a bit awestruck that so many people came to watch dressage and her nerves got the better of her, but it was a great learning opportunity for both of us, both in the saddle myself, and also watching Christoph work with all the other talented horse and rider pairs. Many thanks of course to Christoph for his sharing his knowledge, the organizers and volunteers for a smoothly run event at a gorgeous facility, and also to Mane Media for the wonderful pictures.

Each day will start with Greenhorse pairs and as the day progresses, we will work our way up to Grand Prix, showing every level in between.

Congratulations to Janet Schaub on her recent purchase of "Zest for Life" (Zesty) from us. This super talented and kind Zoom/Vitalis mare had a lovely foal for us last year, and is now back to work undersaddle. We are looking forward to what the future holds for these two, and very happy that Zesty will be staying with us and we will get to continue to help develop this talented mare and build this new partnership.
Congratulations to Riley, Maxine and Brenda on your recent purchase of our boy "Dougie", a lovely rising 4 year old gelding by Don Ma****lo out of a Finest/Londonderry mare. Dougie has been a true gentleman from day one, and turned into a kind and willing boy undersaddle too, and we wish Riley and Dougie all the best for their future in the hunter rings.
A big congratulations from everyone at Bennville to our resident jumper Margaret Elson, and her talented boy Chapeaux Utopia on all their successes this show season and coming in 8th overall in the Adult Amateur 1 m jumper division for the OHJA!
We had a great time at the final Caledon Dressage show for this season. Senza de Ti and Teresa MacDonald have developed into a great pair in their first season showing together, again pulling off two firsts and two scores in the 70s in Training Level. Suzie Q and I showed at Fourth Level with some nice marks and comments from the judges, and results included a 68.9%. We enjoyed the lovely fall colours of Palgrave, and, as always, many thanks to the volunteers of Caledon Dressage who make these shows so fun and inviting.
Very proud of how both of these mares performed this past weekend, especially with it being the first big show for both of them. Cozette (owned and bred by Judith Rathbone) came home Reserve Champion in her training level division with some very consistent scores of 66.9%, 67.5% and 68.4%. Diamanté (owned by Sharon Millman and bred by Ferdinand Haupt) also won two of her training level tests, with scores of 70.3% and 71.0%. It was a great learning experience for both of these mares, and many thanks to Caledon Dressage and it's great group of organizers and volunteers for making these shows a fun experience for both horses and riders alike.
We had a great time at the SOCTA show today at Foxcroft Equestrian, gaining some valuable off property experience. This was the first show for the lovely homebred four-year-old Diamante, owned by Sharon Millman, and it was a great experience for her, with two solid scores of 67% and 68%. Teresa MacDonald and the talented Senza di Te also came along for some more ring time and experience and they continue to grow into a great partnership. Our newest addition at Bennville, "Secret Spice", is getting bigger, stronger, and prettier by the day. Just love this little filly by Secret, out of Zest for Life (Zoom/Vitalis).

Last week we held a small Mare Performance Test at our farm with the Canadian Hanoverian Society. Both of our mares performed well. Freya, a five year old Floriscount/Quarterback mare, bred by Claus Busch, that we sold in the springtime came back to us to do her Performance Test, and we are pleased to say she has now fulfilled all her requirements to be a States Premium mare with the Hanoverian breed. Many congratulations to her owner Pam Haggarty. Also in the test was Senza de Ti by Sarotti Mocha Sahne/Weltmeyer, bred by Henning Steinhoff. We imported her in the springtime and she is now owned by Teresa MacDonald. She also completed a lovely test with great comments from the judges on both her movement and rideability.
Victor (Viscount/Escudo) had a great weekend showing at the Caledon Dressage Show at Angelstone. With COVID last year, this was his first big multi-day show event and he was a perfect gentleman. Despite some crazy winds on the warm up day, he was a good boy to school in the rings, and he just got better and better all weekend. Even with some distractions, I was so happy with how he stayed with me throughout his tests and earned some super marks and comments from the judges, with scores of 68.1%, 68.5% and 67.1% in Second Level tests 1, 2, and 3, respectively for all first place finishes. I was especially proud of earning all 7s and 8s in his canter work and final centreline in his test on day two. Many thanks to Jennifer Janssen for capturing these lovely photos of us in the ring!
Spring birth announcements! Happy to say that all went smoothly with the delivery of our 2021 crop, with the arrival of two strong, healthy and peppy foals! We hope it continues to go well and are excited to watch these two develop. Hopefully we can get some shots in the paddock soon to share with you, but for now, these will do.
A bit late in our congratulations, but congratulations nonetheless to the new owners of Fine Lady (Finnigan/Londontime), Janet and Lizzy Pinho. She was such a pleasure to raise and train and we are sure she will continue to develop into a lovely partner for you both!
"Fine Lady" is really turning into a fine young lady. This coming 4 year old Finnigan/Londontime mare is now nicely started under saddle, and is a pleasure to ride; clever, calm and willing, with a great AA friendly temperament. She is super to handle on the ground too, and very gentle and kind. At 17hh she is a tall girl, but is still very elegant and correct, and her gaits are lovely and smooth. We will have an updated video shortly, please PM for more info on this lovely sales horse.

Nashua, now 25, is still looking and feeling great and sometimes has to be reminded to act his age ;) Both Nashua and Lynda have persevered through some hard times the last few years and we are very proud of them both!
While it's sad to say goodbye to our horses when they move on to new homes, it means more time to focus on the up-and-coming youngsters we are excited about, including this tall, leggy and elegant 3 year old by Finnigan/Londontime. This mare is already proving to have a great attitude; sweet, kind and willing. Combining that with 3 lovely gaits, we think this mare will develop into a wonderful dressage mount.

DaCaprio, born in 2007, by DeNiro, is one of our outstanding young dressage prospects, but he also jumps very nicely, and would be at home in the hunter ring. He has a very kind and sweet temperament to match his good looks!
