Coyote Acres and Sheep Trax is a small farm raising the following breeds of livestock: Horned and Polled Dorset, Shropshire, and Canadian Arcott sheep; Canadienne, Angus, and Hereford cattle.
Now that the dust has settled from the sale, and all the yearlings and fall-born ewes are sold, it's time to focus on.the 2024 ewe lambs. I have 14 Canadian Arcotts available. All registered. I would prefer to put small groups together or move the whole group, but if someone wants to come and pick, that can be arranged. Keep in mind the price will reflect that. I can also put together a group of 10 or 12, and a package price! PM please.
A Bengal I sold in February of 2023 is in need of a home! Here is the info from the owner:
""I purchased a Snow Mink Bengal kitten from you in February of 2023. Overall she is doing great, but my situation has changed over the last while in that there are commonly long periods of time where nobody is home and she does not seem to do well with the situation. I have reluctantly decided the best thing I can do for her is find her a home in which she will not be alone often and will get the time and attention she requires.
She is completely healthy, spayed and entirely current on vaccinations. I am not looking for any money for herโฆ..it is just really important that I can find her the right home that will meet her needs.
Cinnamon is a delightful Bengal cat full of energy and curiosity. She loves to go on indoor hunting excursions (insects beware) and is obsessed with running water (like most Bengals). She likes to be around people and very much appreciates a healthy amount of playtime. She will never turn down a playfight challenge although she doesn't always realize how sharp her claws are. Cinnamon is not at all bothered by dogs and enjoys children....although young children should be discouraged from picking her up as she is known to scratch when she isn't in the mood.
Cinnamon needs a home that is 100% indoors with room to explore. She does not do well when alone for long periods of time and needs a human to provide regular playtime."

Canadian Arcott lambs headed to the SSBA Grasslands in Humboldt this weekend. The first two photos are the ewe lamb- Sheep Trax Lyrica 391L, twin, sired by LN 397K, a son of the old ewe Sawyer C 82Y (she's still going!); the last two photos are the ram lamb, Sheep Trax Magnus 396M, twin, sired by LN 941G, a son of the foundation ram Canadian Arc 559X.
Dorset lambs bound for the SSBA Grasslands in Humboldt this weekend! Coyote Acres Brit 408M (ewe lamb, first two photos), and Coyote Acres Huey 398M (last two photos). These are British AI-sired lambs, the ewe lamb by Cornella 807 N3, the ram lamb by Huish 22495.
Canadian Arcott rams have been selected for the Badlands Summer Select Sale, Aug. 9-10 on DLMS Farmgate. Look for updated photos in late July!
In December of 2019 Sheep Trax Gainer 901G was born. Twin sired by Sheep Trax Badger 83B, out of Sheep Trax 269D. In 2020 I sold him in our sale. The moment he went into the sale ring (we still had a live sale at that time) I knew I was regretting the decision to sell him. And naturally, it came back to bite me. I had sold Badger as a lamb too, to Ontario, and got him back in 2019 (Jay Lennox). It was not such a long time after selling Gainer 901G that Badger died. I had no son, and Badger was a helluva ram. But I had told our friend Jacob at South Peace Colony, who bought him, that when he was done with 901G, I would buy him back. And now he has come from the Peace Country back to the Badlands where he was born. Thanks to Jacob for letting me get him back, and for the incredible hospitality. Also shout-out to Andy at Peace View Colony just down the road. We were excited to tour their operations and are quite jealous of their beautiful barns. Those guys are the best. Patric Lyster and I are so glad we got up there to see them. And Gainer is back home.
A lot of breeders are always looking for something "new", but I am always on the lookout for the "old". In the Canadian Arcott sheep, the further back they go, the better I like them. Sheep Trax Faye 215F, Sheep Trax Flair 232F, and Sheep Trax Fidela 291F, welcome back to your birth farm! Love those names on these pedigrees- Germanie 4072Y, Zubot Farms 86Z, Sheep Trax Aspen 367A, Sheep Trax Caesar 534C, FCLB 43895C.... Everything old is new again! Thank-you to Ken Rose and Cathy Shane of Rose Ranch for sending them home (and reducing numbers in the ram lamb pen!). Now to allow them to get used to the new home, and figure out what rams to breed them to....

Whose loin is it anyway?
Preg check day went well, particularly happy with the Polled Dorsets (92% caught for fall, which is as it should be) and really happy with the Canadian Arcotts, with a 60% catch. This is a seasonal breed and that is a really good result! Looking forward to the September lambing!
Ram lambs!
Ram lambs are also ready! Culled hard, freshy shorn, tattooed, and ready to go. Some will be kept for the Badlands Summer Select Sale, there is the odd keeper, but most of these rams are for sale. The bulk of them are Canadian Arcotts, there are approximately 10 Canadian Arcott ram lambs available for private sale (though I may pick out one or two to keep to yearlings- those will be chosen by me, they will not just be the "leftovers"). The Canadians range from Dec. 30 to Feb. 5; they were weighed on June 10 and averaged 137 lbs. The heaviest were 156 lbs and 152 lbs. They are sired by 8 different flock sires, so lots of lines available! PM anytime for info.
We culled hard, they are shorn, they are tattooed and ready to go to new flocks. There are a few replacements, and some to be chosen for the Badlands Summer Select Sale. Most of the ewe lambs that will be for sale privately are the Canadian Arcotts. They were weighed on June 10th; ranging from Dec. 30th to Feb. 6th, the Canadian Arcott ewe lambs average 108 lbs. The heaviest was born Jan. 30th and weighed 124 lbs. I simply can't keep them all (as much as I wish I could), so if you are looking for Canadian Arcott females, give us a shout. Apologies for the poor photos, the wind is simply howling here today and they are hunkered down, freshly shorn. We will be doing individual photos soon!

So the last of Celeste's litter had a bit of a false start. Her buyers had to back out after a job loss, but she was immediately snapped up and is leaving me on Saturday. She is shown here hanging out with Missy.
But I won't be kitten-less. Catalina's babies are still here for another month, keeping us definitely on our toes. BTW the silver male is still available if anyone is looking.
It's just about that time of year again! So many great sheep sales this year, lots and lots to choose from. If you are in the market for Canadian Arcott ewes, here is a sneak preview of the 7 yearling ewes that will sell in the Badlands Spring Select May 31-June 1 on DLMS Farmgate.
*Please note, these ewes have not been previously seen, and none have been sold out of the group! There were 11 May 2023 ewe lambs selected, four are staying as replacements and the rest are in the sale.
