Winter Tips for Your Dog 🐶

Winter can be a magical time, but it also comes with unique challenges for our four-legged friends. Here are five tips to keep your dog safe and happy this winter:

1. Protect Those Paws

Snow, ice, and salt can be harsh on your dog’s paws. Use pet-safe booties or apply paw balm to keep their pads soft and safe. Always rinse and dry their paws after walks to remove any salt or chemicals.

2. Keep Them Warm

Not all dogs are built for the cold. Consider a winter coat for short-haired or smaller breeds. Even larger dogs appreciate some extra warmth during long outings.

3. Adjust Exercise Times

Plan walks during the warmest parts of the day and limit time outside during extreme cold. Remember, if it’s too cold for you, it’s likely too cold for your dog!

4. Hydration Matters

Your dog needs just as much water in the winter as they do in the summer. Check their water bowl frequently to ensure it hasn’t frozen, especially if they’re outdoors.

5. Watch for Hazards

Antifreeze, ice-melt products, and frozen lakes can be dangerous. Keep a close eye on your dog and prevent them from licking or walking in unsafe areas.

🐾 Meet Bolt,a silver Lab with a heart of gold! Bred by Lucky Labs, he's destined for greatness as he embarks on his journey to become a mobility dog for a young boy in need. With his incredible temperament, Bolt has all the makings of a true hero.

Now, he just needs to grow big and strong for the job ahead. Generally, we aim to start counter balancing and bracing mobility work when a dog is 1.5 - 2 years old, so his joints can handle the stress. Keep a lookout for Bolt's awesome progress as he paws his way towards changing lives! 🌟

Jax and her skilled handler, Christy, are performing admirably. Jax has undergone extensive training in the early detection of blood clots.

The reality surrounding blood clots is indeed somber; once an individual becomes aware of their presence, it is typically too late. However, Jax's remarkable abilities allow her to detect the formation of blood clots even before they materialize. By providing several days of advance warning, Jax offers valuable time for conducting blood tests and initiating necessary treatments.

Jax employs various indications, such as scratching, nudging, or licking targeted areas, upon detecting the presence of a blood clot. Subsequently, it becomes the handler's responsibility to communicate to the doctor, with utmost accuracy, that "My dog has alerted me to the existence of a blood clot."

We look forward to observing the continued growth and accomplishments of this outstanding partnership!
