To know more about us:
Who are the owners Manon Turbé Gaglione & Ange-Mathieu Gaglione

Manon is a horse owner since 14 years now. She tried and visited lots of different barn in France. We moved to Canada 2 years ago with our 6 horses. Yes they flew to Canada too.
Manon was an eventing show rider with her first pony Scipion, they went up to the France championship.
After lots of questioning herself she totally changed her life with horses. She learnt by herself that the kind of life she was offering to her lovely pony wasn’t the best and he wouldn’t do anything for her if she doesn’t respect his needs. After she got other horses and continued learning and always making things better for their well-being. She stopped showing as she didn’t have time but she is continuing to ride regularly. Maybe she will start to show again next year with her geldings in dressage or eventing.

She is also an Animal Osteopath since 3 years now, she did 5 years of studying in France, 2 years working on the islands (Saint Martin, Saint Barthélémy) and 1 year here in Canada. Manon Turbé Ostéopathe pour animaux
She continuing to learn all the time and makes internship because she wants to offer the best for her clients and her animals. And to be honest she is totally addict to learning.

Her husband Ange-Mathieu, is clearly not a horse guy from the beginning but he is learning with her since a few years now. His task in the barn will be all the taking care/cleaning/construction as he is very handy. But he knows how to take care of the horses and recognize when they feel bad or something is wrong.

They are living on site so they see the horses all the time so the monitoring is more precise.

▪️How we made our Paddock Paradise :
The wood fences were already there when we moved to this property. We did lots of repairs as they were very old and weak. After that we installed the inside fences (red & white) to build the track. We used T-posts and electric wire on 3 rows. I choose to make wide tracks to make sure no horse gets stuck because of a dominant one.
For now we only have 2 big paddocks (1 to 9 and 10 to 13) and at the end of the winter, when the snow will be melted we are going to build the 13 small paddocks. They will be opened one by one to do a rotation to preserve the ground and ensure the grass for all the good season.

Here is an aerial view of our Paddock Paradise track (photo). We have tried to avoid sharp corners so that there is a better flow. Unfortunately we are only renting this property so we can’t add permanente features to the track (more trees, gravel & rock area, hills, etc..).

But we can keep the mud away thanks to soil stabilizers. They are actually not installed as it is our first year on the property so we don’t know exactly where the mud areas are. We will install them when needed.

The horses also have free access to 2 shelters in different orientations to bring more shadow as possible. During the winter they will be filled with bedding to add more comfort. To be honest we don’t know yet which one is the best for this use but we are going to try different types and see which one we will choose at the end.
We utilize slow feeders on the top of the hay which ensures that the horses have regulated access to free choice hay.

We are totally convinced by the benefits of Paddock Paradise and highly recommend you try it for your horses.

▪️A little bit more about Track System or Paddock Paradise :
Paddock Paradise is an exciting new natural boarding concept based on Jaime Jackson's research into how horses live in the wild. It is a ground-breaking idea which has many benefits including:
- Provides a more stimulating environment for the horse which discourages vices
- Encourages more movement which benefits overall health of the horse
- Enables easier grazing management

"The key to having physically and mentally healthier horses"
Jaime Jackson
(Photo 1)

▪️How did Pasture Paradise Evolve?
Jaime Jackson is a former farrier who, between 1982 and 1986, undertook studies of feral horses interacting in their natural environment.
These studies revealed that feral horses rarely suffered from hoof problems such as laminitis or navicular which commonly affect our domestic horses.

So, based on what he saw in the wild, he started experimenting with trimming parameters for domestic horses that reflected the natural hoof and which would allow them to remain barefoot.
In 1990 he stopped using shoes on horses and started promoting the wild horse trim.
He published his first book in 1992, The Natural Horse: Lessons from the Wild which documented his wild horse studies and offered insights as to how we could better meet the biological needs of our domestic horses.

In 1999 he went on to write the Horse Owners Guide to Natural Hoof Care which went into more detail regarding his trim methods.

Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding was published in 2007.

▪️Here is How Pasture Paradise Works:
Instead of housing our horses in regular square or oblong fields where they just stand in one spot and eat, and eat, and eat, an additional "inside" fence is added to create a "track" system. See diagram photo 2.

The track width can vary - the narrower the track the more the horses will move. However you don't want it too narrow if you have more than 2 horses as one may get cornered by a more dominant horse.

Now this may sound like a lot of work and expense but it can be done quite cheaply and quickly using electric fencing and is well worth the effort when you see how much happier and healthier your horse is.
