This White Park cow, is affectionately known as BOC which stands for Big Old Cow. She is the herd matriarch, having been born in 2008. Her genetics have influenced the herd like no other. She looks like she has one last calf in her!!

Not to imaginative but I call this cow Dun. She has produced a full set of colours over the years. This years and last years bull calves.

Well, fourth time was the charm. First heifer calf from the white park herd!! Three more of the pure cows to go, and hoping to get more than two this year. At least a couple of crosses are females as well.

This little guy really is a good looking boy. He has a good 3 week head start on the other pure white park calves. Will likely use him with the F2s (75%) in a couple of years assuming he matures nicely.

First full blood white park calf of the year. Bull calf #61. Pure to the best of our knowledge. And this year there is no doubt with respect to sires. Also a 50% white park and 50% shorthorn calf, its mother not in the pics. Can see the markings on the feet much more obvious on the pure calf.

Experienced sows really develop a full udder before they farrow. Even in this pic Haven could be a week away from having her litter. Whereas the first timers have a much less developed udder and the one in the second pic could have piglets tomorrow.

I hinted at this in the spring, but I think given the lack of demand for registered stock this litter from Haven will likely be my last one that I register. Then I don’t have to carry three boars or worry about fences quite as much as whose your daddy doesn’t matter quite as much. We have sent registered stock from one end of the country to the other so Paddy Green Acres will be on family trees for more than a few years to come!! Merry Christmas to all.
