✨ IN SEARCH OF AWESOME FOSTERS! ✨

This week we are focusing on the importance of Fostering with our rescue and how desperate we currently are for them!!

Without our foster homes, we cannot take in any dogs! Everyday we get multiple owner surrender requests or requests from kill shelters that we, unfortunately, need to turn away due to the shortage of foster homes.

If you think you can help us, continue reading for what being a foster entails!

We specifically need foster homes with:
🙂 No dogs or cats
🙂 No kids
🙂 Large breed experience
🙂 Homes in rural areas for dogs who need calmer settings

We are also more than happy to have the following people on our team:
🎾 People with dogs, cats and/or kids
🎾 Full-time workers
🎾 University students
🎾 First time dog owners
🎾 Anyone in Ontario!

What foster families do:
💛 Basic Training
💛 Bring their foster to vet appointments/ training sessions
💛 Join in on events
💛 Send is loads of photos and updates
💛 Love and Nurture
💛 Save a life

What we provide foster families with:
🐕 Supplies (food, crate, blankets, bowls, etc)
🐕 Authorized Vetting
🐕 Constant training and support

I have this “issue” that foster mom has been working on with me. It’s called resource guarding, I’m sure you’ve heard about it.

I’ve been doing so much better with my training and counter conditioning, but I will need a family willing to continue this. It will be lots of fun for both of us but it’s also serious business!

Last night, our core team thought we were going to be saying goodbye to our forever Queen, Elsie. She gave us quite the scare but we will spare you from the video as it was not pleasant in the slightest, but at one point, our team thought that Elsie had bloat or Hemoabdomen (bleeding into the belly).

All of a sudden, last night during her final p*e break of the night, Elsie’s mom noticed that something was not right. She screamed out in pain and that’s when the team jumped into action and got her to the vet.

As you know, Elsie is a forever foster partially due to her behaviors. She does not trust new people and is not scared to bite in response to stressful situations. Elsie‘s foster moms advocated for her at the Vet Clinic and made sure that although she was in a significant amount of pain, no one, including herself would be hurt in the stressful situation.

Thankfully Elsie did not have bloat but there is concern about a mass and/or fluid in her stomach area. We were given a few options, but the one we felt that gave Elsie the best outcome was one where she essentially had her stomach pumped. It was a 20 minute procedure, and the doctor said that as soon as they put the tube in, a significant amount of fluid started draining. Elsie recovered from the procedure in a room with her mom so that she was not stressed while waking up and was given the all clear to head home around 3 AM.

Our team is keeping a very close eye on Elsie as it is still undetermined whether there was a mass that caused this back up, or if there is another reason as to why her stomach wasn’t moving everything as it should.

We try our very best to stand by “what our dogs want and need, they get” because they truly deserve it. Elsie’s procedure left us with a $2000 bill and we are hoping you might be able to help us cover even a small portion of that so we can continue to help her and the other dogs in our care ❤️

ELSIE - Available For Adoption or Foster Poor Elsie has had no interest... Elsie is currently being fostered with HQ and although we have seen an improvement in her, this is not the right environment for her. Elsie is looking for a foster home OR a home to call her very own! She is looking for a home with no other animals and an adult home only as she is older and can be a bit grumpy (rightfully so!) Once you have gained Elsie's trust, her puppy side comes out and all she wants is love and to run zoomies in the yard! We want our seniors to live their golden years in the most ideal environment and right now, although she is getting all the love right now at HQ, she deserves more! <3

REESE -Available for Adoption Reese just wants to find his forever family so he can tell them how much he loves them everyday and how great they are 🥺 He has had very little interest in his time with us and we cannot seem to figure out why as he is quite literally the best boy!
