WOW! We can’t believe it’s been 20 years. Twenty years ago today, Judy Sauvé and six volunteers in Hawkesbury, Ontario started our humble organization to provide therapy dog and cat visits to seniors, children, and youth. Almost a year later, TPOC was granted charitable status. Today, we have teams across the country improving the lives of thousands of people.

August 30th is officially TPOC Day. We encourage you today to share a memory about how TPOC has impacted you. If you are someone who received our services, let us know in the comments or in your own post how we helped you or a loved one. If you are one of our dedicated volunteers, comment on this post or share a picture of you and your pet on your own page and let us know your favorite thing about volunteering for TPOC. Don’t forget to tag us! ❤️

Here are 5 tips for healthy teeth in your pet:

Don’t presume your pet will inform you their teeth hurt.

Do brush your pet’s teeth.

Feed your pet tooth-friendly food.

Approach dental-care treats with caution.

Don’t skip vet exams.

It’s National Volunteers Week 2021! Today we recognize Nancy, and her dog Annie. Nancy and Annie have been with us since 2017 working in both our adult and child programs. Annie is our only tri-pod, but no one told her having three legs is a disadvantage!!! With mom Nancy on the front lines of this pandemic we are extra thankful for all they bring to our community. Help us thank them for all their hard work over the years by leaving a message below ❤️

Many thanks to Quite Fetching Furtography for our team photography.

It is time for some proper introductions...

Meet Judy!

Judy is the founder and Chair of Therapeutic Paws of Canada and has participated in therapy dog visitation for almost thirty years. Judy is a strong advocate for the benefits of pet visitation and therefore enjoys any opportunity to introduce TPOC to communities and new members. Judy and her Sheltie, Maggie, founded TPOC twenty years ago. Maggie was the very first ever TPOC therapy dog and set an excellent example for the hundreds of therapy dogs and cats that are part of our organization today.

Thank you, Judy, for leading with grace and a strong passion for spreading joy. Here at TPOC we believe there is no one that could do the job better!

Stay tuned for some more board introductions to come.
