At the barn" is a priority that cannot be overlooked because living breathing animals await our arrival and attention.

Some days we cuss "at the barn" because we would like to be at the house or at the lake or even just in front of the TV, but despite those days, we know that we could never live without "at the barn."

Those of us who have spent our lives "at the barn" know that the barn and everything that happens there is an irrevocable part of who we are; it is a special kind of DNA that cannot be denied or altered. Undaunted by heat or cold or damp or dirt or fatigue, we know that the one thing that could actually do us in would be the inability to be "at the barn."

Today is a true struggle for me.... there is a fight that needs done that no one seems to be willing to step in and take on, a fight that I do not have the means to do myself, or I would have done it already.
Instead today I am left with the feeling that has been growing in me for months.... a feeling I had years ago but had allowed hope and determination to push aside for a while. A feeling of helplessness and lost hope, a feeling that all I am doing is documenting the things that we are losing and we will not be able to bring back once it is gone.
One day maybe when someone who has the authority and political sway sees it they will bring back a vestige of what will have been lost..... but it will never equal what we have with the wild ones and their wild places today.
Today the best we can do is take time and visit them in their wild places, document them for those that will not know them as anything more than a piece of history in a museum and old dusty books, and above all - revel in the time we have with them now, celebrate each moment we get to be with them now, and somewhere in the deepest darkest corner of our heart we keep a small flame of hope live because maybe hopefully there is an unseen miracle that can change what has been set in motion.

Is there anyone that wants to travel with us for a bit ? Somebody that can sleep on a recliner sofa , not much room in our toter, must be clean - needs to know horses , saddle for me , help load ,help with performance, / I got bucked off a while back , separated shoulder , broke rib , just a lil sore / if someone was a hand & wanted to do what I do this could be a great opportunity to learn the ropes also , or if someone wants to just go help us for a bit that’s fine too, we’re heading out Wed , Colorado , Utah , New Mexico . probably like finding a needle in a haystack but thought I’d throw it out there , y’all have a Blessed Day !
