Gotta love photobombs π
We had to help our old boy Tucker cross the rainbow bridge this evening π π
You were such a joy to have in our mischief.
I'm sure you're getting all the cheerios your little soul desires. We will miss you dearly. Rest easy sweet boy. π
Oh hai smol beans π₯Ί
Ol' Chucky was a really good boy tonight and finished off all his medicine! π§‘
A year ago today this sweet man was brought to our attention and we picked him up that following weekend. He is now roughly over 2 years old. π he has made such a great addition to the mischief. Love this handsome fella!
One of our new permanent residents Bongo π we took him in almost 3 weeks ago with his brother Remy. Love this picture π he's quite the handsome chunky butt!
One update I'm entirely late on!!
Miss Gooseberry!
She is totally in love with my partner β€ and as you can tell, he loves her too!
The progress she has made is phenomenal!
For some who may not know:
we took part in a big rescue with Rat Rescue Nova Scotia back in October. She came to us with her mama Pancake and friends. We had placed her with one of our wonderful foster homes, but she didn't take too well with the change to say the least!
She was a bit of a handful, pretty hormonal and nippy. After she was returned it took quite a while to see any improvement...but..
She has gotten better with me.....not as close as she has with my partner thoughhh! π
they are inseparable! She's finally more comfortable with other rats!
She has even become a permanent member of the mischief β€β€
Lazarus has become quite the cuddle bug π₯°
I'm pretty behind on posting some ratties so finally here we are!! There was a small group that come into our care about a month back. They were malnourished and full of mites, on top of that one was pregnant and a few were so scared to even be touched. They have been treated and gained weight! They are a lot more trusting, social, now happy and healthy ratties π₯°
Brief personalities in photo descriptions!
Also we have some gorgeous girls that were returned looking for a new home!
Midnight, Luna & Ginger - sister trio **HAVE FOUND THEIR FUREVER FAMILY β€β€
If you are interested in getting any of these cuties just send us a message. :)
Sweet Cicely is wondering how you all are doing tonight? π₯°
If you are interested in adding to your mischief... Cicely and her 3 sisters are still looking for their furever family β€
Feel free to send us a message for more information.
When dropping off ratties to previous adopters we received a lovely note with a donation and pictures. Thank you so much Lily!! This really warmed our hearts π₯° and thank you for deciding to adopt from us again! We hope your new girls Espresso and Latte have settled in nicely with their big sisters Pearl and Peri! π
We have 4 beautiful girls that are looking for their new home!
Sadly they were returned to us due to a housing issue.
Very friendly and social girls
All siblings - 7 months old
Prefer them to go together as they are bonded
If you are interested feel free to send a message! π
ALL ARE ADOPTED β€β€

The girls love their pea fishing...so messy! π
Two gorgeous girls are now looking for their furever family π
They are a mother/daughter pair
Pancake is the mama, roughly 1 year old
Gooseberry is the daughter, under 6 months
These ladies are really sweet while also very courageous!
Feel free to message us for more details π
These chubby little beans are getting a lot more active π₯°
All females are called for
2 males will be available after November 22nd
Just wanted to update you all on the girls. They are really coming around, gaining more weight and looking healthier overall. For a few there are still more vet visits to come, but we believe they will make it through this! They have been such strong ladies. We had two lovelies head off to their foster home last night as well π Oh and the babies have opened their eyes, so precious π₯°
Hello everyone.
Last night was a real tough one for us. We took part in a big rescue with some amazing people in the rat community around here.
Over 25 rats!
Unfortunately they are in horrible condition to say the least - some cannot even be helped at this point π there are around 20 that are most definitely pregnant on top of it! They are going to need vet care as soon as possible. This is going to be a lot of work for everyone involved and a lot of homes will be needed in the upcoming months. If you can help with any donations whether it's basic supplies, food (oxbow adult rat food), cages suitable for mothers, vet care, and of course fostering/adopting please send us a message and join the group Rat Rescue Nova Scotia
Picture of the litter we picked up with the girls.
We still have some ratties looking for a new home! A pair of females and a pair of males π
If you have any questions feel free to send us a message!
Now for the lovely ladies! Finally!
Unfortunately some are and have been dealing with some nasty, stubborn URI's. They will be available as soon as they are healthy enough to leave.
Here is some info about them in their photo description. π₯°
Send us a message if there are any you would like to add to your family π
As some of you know, we have taken in a group of seniors recently. Well we are going to start with the males - personalities are in their photo descriptions so you can get to know a little more about them! π₯° so sorry for the delay!
Please note: some are dealing with URI's, an abscess, and tumor. They will be available once it is certain they are healthy enough to go.
If there are any you would like to add to your family just send us a message and we'll get back to you asap! π
Just an update for you all!
Last weekend we took in quite the group of senior ratties. (13 to be exact) they are over one and half years to two years of age.
They were not in the best of shape π all had mites, they were very itchy and some were scabby and losing hair.(some have natural hair loss due to age and genetics as well) A few are dealing with URI'S and currently on antibiotics. They were skinny and dehydrated - the boys alone went through 4 bowls of food and 5 water bottles the first night with us!! A couple will need to stay here due to HLD and tumors unless someone feels they can take this on. The others will be looking for their forever homes to live out the rest of their lives peacefully, just as they deserve! We understand they are old and not what a lot of people are looking for but if you or anyone you know may be willing to take in one or more of these loving ratties please send us a message! They are so sweet and crave nothing but attention.
Depending on their health and how some take to the medications, in another week or two they will be available to go. We will have a post up soon with each of their ages and personalities. Here are some photos of them settling in. β€
These cuddle bugs are melting my heart tonight π₯°
From left to right: Rico, Ebony - mid yawn in the background π, Chucky and Mikey
Willow's adorable babies will be available October 3rd π₯° they're growing so fast!
Willow's itty bitty beans are 1 week old π
Who doesn't love a sleepy ratato?? π
Not a ratty but a mouse!
Meet Willow π₯° she is so gentle and such a sweetie.
We recently took her in as she was housed with males and unfortunately became pregnant during her first heat cycle. Last night she successfully gave birth to 7 healthy little beans! She is keeping them fed and warm - what a great first time (and young!) mommy! β€
There are numerous hammocks in the cage yet all 7 of you need to shove yourselves into 1 π€¦ββοΈ
Rat logic...
The last of these pretty little ladies went off to their new homes yesterday! π π
We took in these handsome old fellas exactly 3 weeks ago!! This is Mikey and Rico π they are approximately 2 years old. When we picked them up they were in a very small, cramped cage (they are quite large boys too!) and they were sooo scabby π₯ They were treated for the mites/lice and they both healed up nicely. Super sweet and cuddly boys with the biggest of boggles! We cannot understand who could bored and give them up so easily. Especially at their age. They were rehomed twice before us! But this is now their furever home and they will live out the rest of lives being spoiled and loved π₯°
Introductions to our oldies went pretty well for the most part. Rico was obviously the alpha of their duo so there was a little friction with the current alpha Chirrut at the beginning - they figured things out rather quickly though!
Now for the cage....they were through the roof with the upgrade to the DCN! So happy with the levels, huts, hammocks, baskets, toys, literally everything in there excited them! A bit confused on the litter pan though but they soon picked up on that. Seriously, their reaction gave me tears π It's still very shocking they were kept in such a small space for so long.
These adorable guys have made such a great addition to the mischief and we would do it 1000 times over. π₯°
Senior rattys are personally my favourite. They may not be with you as long but it's always so rewarding to see how your love and attention can perk them right back up for the remainder of their lives. Especially those from unpleasant situations.
