A message for my Fur Barber Family,

The Fur Barber, location in Harmony, Nova Scotia, will be closing its doors on October 31st, 2020.

And I am moving back to the West Coast.
This decision has been a long and complicated one. Thanks to the global pandemic I realized the Fur Barber was my life here, I loved it and it sustained me however, when the lock down started I was lost and knew there was somewhere I needed to be.
(The mountains were calling).
I can’t explain how much love and gratitude I have for everyone who’s been on this journey with me.
I’ve needed every piece of advice, word of encouragement, moment of forgiveness and a little discouragement to learn my place in business.
To my staff and volunteers thank you for all the laughter and hard work. I loved having the building full to the brim with people, pups, and joy. To my clients thank you for your patience and loyalty through my first bumpy year as a small business owner. To Betty and Linda; thank you for changing my life for the better. I like to think I just graduated with a certificate in business & Grooming. To the dogs, I will miss you so deeply and dream about you ‘til the end of time. (Brinkley visited my dreams last night).
Gideon and I have appreciated your support over this past year and I am so sorry to leave so abruptly. If anyone fancies a chat, give me a call. I love a proper goodbye. I’ll also be around for the next month taking nail appointments and doing some grooms at my house in Aylesford if anyone needs.
I plan to upload as many photos onto the Facebook group as I can and you can follow the Fur Barber Instagram for future BC updates.

The Fur Barber will be looking to bring on a groomer to our team... clientele keeps expanding and we need more staff! Has dog grooming potentially interested you as a career? If so, please contact us for the opportunity. Training is not necessary, we will train you in house. Previous dog and/or horse experience is the only requirement... we need someone confident in themselves to handle dogs under stress. A delicate hand and attention for detail too!

There will be steps to this process to ensure the applicant is a good fit for our pups, and a good fit for the business. Job shadowing and training. Working alone most of the time once fully trained . For further information on the position please contact us if you feel this would be a fit for you!! 🐶💈

Today our doggos got to experience paw painting to make a cute little gift for their beloved humans 🥰 it was easier than we had anticipated, and so much fun for both us and the pups.
Purfect way to end the week 🐶

Dogs, by nature, are highly social animals. When a dog is isolated for long periods of time, their mental health can suffer due to increased stress levels of being left alone. This can result in many behavior problems.. this is why Daycare is probably one of the most important gifts you can give to your dog - and yourself.
Regular play with other dogs builds good socialization and communication skills for your pup, also eliminating the owner-absent feeling of neglect, resulting in a calmer, more confident dog. And let’s be real.. you can never have to many fur friends !! 🐾💈

Those of you that are already part of our Fur Barber family, have seen major differences in their dogs at home and that’s what we strive to do. We not only run a daycare, we run a home away from home for your fur babies. ❤️If you haven’t tried daycare before, and are thinking about it but have concerns? COVID-19 OPERATING PROTICAL
Our aim is to continue performing at the standard you expect, all the while respecting the provincial guidelines for Covid19.

For grooming clients, we will ask that the drop off be as quick as possible.
We will be waiting to the RIGHT of the building inside a gated area. If we already know the details of your dog’s cut, you may simply open the door, take their collar off and let them in. If we need to discuss your dog’s cut please call after dog drop off.
The groomer will be wearing a mask for the entire groom. We will be wearing gloves for the initial intake and handling of the dog prior to the bath, and during the first half of the bath. Once the dog is clean, guidelines indicate it is safe for us to finish the cut without gloves. We will be sanitizing doorknobs, surfaces and tools after clients and dogs, to prevent contamination. If there are any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask us.

For nail clients, the appointment will be outside in a gated area to the RIGHT of the building. The groomer will be wearing a mask and gloves to handle your dog. If your dog is difficult and you will need to assist the groomer we will ask that you also, mask up and wear gloves to protect everyone involved.

For daycare clients, we will have an outside drop off/pick up area set up to the LEFT of the building. All dogs should be dropped off WITHOUT their collars and leashes on. We have some in the shop if we need to use one.
It will be self serve style.
There is a gated area to put your dogs in.
Once the door is shut, you can ring the bell (with your foot) & the inside door will open. Please remember to respect social distancing rules at drop off. We ask that personal collars and leashes be kept with you and there will be a basket outside for lunch kibble.
For pick up, we simply ask for your patience as we will do our best to notice when you show up to meet you outside with your dog within a timely matter. The dogs will be waiting in the same pen as drop off and if not feel free to call us 19028486219
To help prevent spreading germs, we will also only be doing contactless payment for the time being. We are set up for Internet money transfers at [email protected] or we will accept cash in the exact amount ideally in a envelop or baggie.

We stand with you

Hi, I wanted to give you guys a little update on our reopening plan.
We are going to be open June 8th with full time daycare hours and a reduced grooming schedule, for now.
There will be a contactless drop off zones and other precautions in place to keep everyone safe. We will be releasing our full safety plan here on fb soon.

The grooming rebooking list is quite long and growing everyday so please be patient.
All new grooming appointments will be added to the rebooking list.
All previous clients are in order of appointments missed
All future booking will be done in two week increments just in case of another shut down.

We will also be taking afternoon nail appointments; all our welcome but please no ‘drop in’s’.
Daycare and nail clients can start booking their appoinments now either through Facebook or phone.
