Update on Zilla:

Unfortunately, Zilla's eye has not improved, despite meds, and may have actually gotten worse. Zilla has also stopped eating on their own again, and has recently been fighting the syringe feeding. Which has resulted in a loss of weight when they were already too thin.

We wil continue syringe feeding for 2 weeks, and add some grub pie to the formula to see if that helps, and will continue to offer worms to see if they will take one. After that, we will see Dr. Moritz again to re-evaluate. If Zilla does not improve by then, we may need to make a tough choice.

Keep your fingers crossed that the formula change works.

Update on Kiwi:

He is in good health, but is quite overweight. He will be put on a diet, and given some free roaming to get some exercise. He will be available after Christmas, if he has reached a healthy weight.

Kiwi and Zilla are waiting to see Dr. Moritz at Whyte Ridge Veterinary Hospital.

Unless this is a previously planned, researched pet, and the enclosure/equipment is all set up and ready to go prior, we do not adopt out animals over the Christmas break.

Christmas is coming and I just want to remind everyone that live pets should NEVER be given as gifts to friends or family members outside of your home. And IF you do gift a pet to someone IN your own home, make sure you’re prepared to be the main caretaker of that animal. No.Matter.What. I know the babies are super cute in the pet stores. But those babies grow up and have ongoing needs. Children cannot be held responsible for keeping an animal alive let alone taking GOOD care of one. They need help.
If you’re not prepared for what it takes, please don’t bring one home.
