This is an interesting case we got to be a part of recently. Horse presented mild to moderately sore on the front end. After ruling out basic tenderness X-rays of the feet were done. X-rays revealed foreign material in an old crack from a previous injury on the right front.
Kenny resected the foot, opening up the area and pulling a bunch of dirt and debris out from inside the hoof wall. He applied a pad and custom bar shoe for support. Less than 24 hours later this horse was totally sound and has stayed sound.

It was a beautiful morning at Silver Slate arena today! Our horses worked well at the ARCHA schooling show

Justaboutthere marking a 70 in the Open Ranch Cutting and a 141 (70 rein/71 cow) in the Open Snaffle Bit.

Dulcies Smart Metall owned by Melanie Gustafsen marking a 71 in the Open Ranch Cutting. This 6 yr old mare came to us with 30 days on her as a 2yr old. After only 4 months of training to be able to show her and mark a 71 is a testament to her natural ability and talent!

We are excited to be offering a mini series of cattle works to the public over the next month! Cost is $150 per person, includes coaching, cattle fee and drop in fee. Dates are as follows.

AK Equine is moving! As of mid May we will be located at Griffith Ranch Arena in Crossfield, Alberta, just 30 mins north of Calgary. We are now opening our books for training spots and farrier work starting June 1st and onwards!
