This , PetSmart Charities of Canada is honoured to provide a $100,000 grant to the The Food Bank of York Region to help families AND their beloved pets experiencing food insecurity in their community. In partnership with Feed Ontario the funding will help deliver pet food to community food banks like Markham Food Bank, Richmond Hill Food Bank and Newmarket Food Bank to distribute alongside human food, so they can provide for the whole family - including pets.

With this support, more pets will stay healthy, happy, and together with the people who love them most! 🏠🐶

Through grant funding made possible thanks to generous donors, PetSmart Charities of Canada works with animal welfare organizations like Community Veterinary Outreach as they support Indigenous partners to build access to veterinary care in a meaningful way.

Thanks to the grant funding, Community Veterinary Outreach responded to an invitation from the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation Government, who were actively looking to support the needs of pets and people and overcome the challenges of accessing veterinary care in their remote community. Among the veterinary team who travelled to the community was Dr. Hay, a Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation citizen, who returned to provide veterinary care to pets and people in her own home community.🐾

Ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th), we thank the Indigenous leaders and partners in communities across Canada who share their knowledge, leadership and wisdom in caring for these animals.🧡
