Regularly Scheduled Trimming and Shoeing. Have the horse's hooves trimmed on a regular schedule, by a qualified farrier. A bad trim can cause lameness. Only allow someone who has had sufficient training to trim the horse's hooves. The main goal of trimming is to retain a healthy shape and length of the foot.

Had a lot of fun at the Super Series Indian Relays at Century Casino Racetrack. These boys came together as a team to work hard and learn together. Looking forward to the next one in O’Chiese First Nation on July 1 & 2.

While some owners think bare feet only need trimming once or twice a year, most horses need much more frequent trims to keep the hoof capsule properly balanced (so structures are stressed evenly) and to keep the edges from cracking and chipping.
