Was it pretty? No.
Did we bring our A Game? No.
Did we remember to bring a regulation collar and leash? Also no. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Did Wings qualify for her last leg of Rally Novice and get a new title? YES.
Do I recommend doing Rally after you’ve been up all night with food poisoning? Not even a little. 🤮

Thank you to the Rally Community for your help and support today. I really could not have made it through without you. Amanda, Stephanie, Ali Cat, my emotional support human, Julia, our judge who was tough but fair, and all the other competitors that checked on me and didn’t run screaming away when they saw me. Congratulations on your stellar weekends!

Our Firepoint Family is paw-some! 🐾

Dogs are excelling at everything from conformation to agility and even Tikka had her first litter of puppies! Our dogs are also champions at cuddling and making us laugh. Thanks to all their awesome families for loving them every day!

And thats a wrap!

First show of the season and I’m so pleased with all the Firepoint Dogs and their amazing humans.

Ringo (Devon x Wings) was awarded 2x BOB/BOW/BP from the classes, and BOS/WD once adding 7 more points to his tally! Poor guy is sitting on the “Dreaded Nine”, but I know with the excellent presentation he receives from Pat, he’ll soon be finished.

Minty (Devon x Wings) was awarded 1x BOS/WB from the classes and 1x BOB/BOW/BP to add 4 more points to her tally. Minty is only 2 points from becoming a champion!

Emmett (Kramer x Wings) was awarded 2x Select Dog. He has filled out and is looking so handsome. I love watching him and Jen float around the ring.

Wings (The mama dog) made her debut in the rally ring. I really need to plan better! Double rally runs on Friday and I missed the first one entirely. The second one, I raced in at the last minute of the walk through and then realized it was a course full of sits. Like most people, Wings works for a paycheque and she only has so many unrewarded sits in her before she “forgets” what the word means. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Saturday’s course was more her style with lots of movement and way less sits but I missed the walk through and we went in cold. I got lost on course and had to stop and figure out where my next station was. Our very kind judge rewarded our efforts with a qualifying score, so we will have to keep at it until she achieves her title. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Poor Bad Puppy, you won’t be an obedience school drop-out!

As always, thank you so much to our puppy peeps, Jen, Janice and Bill for all the amazing work they do with their dogs to allow them to compete at this level. To the rest of the village that support us in conformation and in rally…thank you, too!

Congratulations to Jen and her best boy Emmett, for earning their Versatility Dog Advanced certificate from the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Canada. These two work hard, set goals and are an amazing team. They have big plans and I know they will be adding to the “alphabet soup” of titles around Emmett’s name.
