Love this story of gratitude 💚🐶

“Lest we forget! Heroes are not always the ones with only two feet. Sometimes their heroic acts are only a simple act of kindness.

In 1987, Berners in Canada were a rare sight. Dean and I were walking one of our Berners down Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. We strolled past an outdoor cafe and we heard "a Sennenhund" coming from one of the tables. Most people at the time could not identify a Bernese Mountain Dog let alone by their Swiss-German name. An elderly man and his daughter were sitting at the table, she asked if we could come over so her dad could see Cliff.

I was concerned that Cliff would be a bit too rambunctious for the elderly man but we brought him over. The man slowly reached down and wrapped his arms around Cliff's neck and buried his face in his coat. After hugging Cliff for a unusually long time, the gentleman sat back up with tears streaming down his face.

Once he regained his composure, he retold the stories of his wartime experiences.

His platoon in Europe used dogs to transport ammunition, food and medical supplies. Several of those dogs were Bernese Mountain Dogs.

He had lots of stories of his fellow soldiers and the dogs that served alongside. But the one story that stood out the most was that the only times he remembered being warm enough to sleep was when one of the Berners would sleep with him. Safe and warm, even during the horrors of war.

He held on to this love and gratitude to the Bernese Mountain Dog for all those years.”

Drum roll please....Cameron has been adopted!! This special senior who was found tied to a fence on a cold winters night is now the apple of his new families eye. His new name is Charlie and he has made himself right at home settling in with his basket full of toys. Big thanks to our friends at Toronto Animal Services West. Thank you to Shirley who welcomed Cameron with open arms when he came into the rescue. A very heartfelt thank you to Laurie and Heinz who were his angels and gave him a very special place to hang his leash while he waited for his forever home. They affectionately called him the big red dog and took him on many adventures, he learned to swim at the cottage and worked on his canine skills. Paws up for their patience and dedication as we worked with him during the COVID shut down on Sunday afternoons in a deserted parking lot - thanks go out to Helena ,Will and Rorie, to Kim and Tucker , and Kristine and Dallas and all who helped this boy on his journey. Our hearts are full and we wish Cameron aka Charlie all the best with new adventures, treats and living the life he so deserves 🐾❤️

What a great time we had in Quebec City last weekend at the expozoo trade show. We met so many groomers, pet store owners, franchiser,distributors,kennel operators, vets, and animal lovers. We invited passerby’s to taste our snaps, although hesitant at first, said they taste wonderful. We heard so many stories of dogs with anxiety, muscle pain, and so much more. We were able to suggest a dosage that will work. Our h**p oil in easy to use bottles are perfect to keep on hand for any ailments or just a daily dose. Thank you everyone who stopped in to see us and encourage us on this our first launch.!
Can’t wait for the Toronto pet show in 2 weeks!
