2. Avoid Dangerous Materials: Steer clear of toys with:

🔹Toys that are too hard; ensure you can press your nail into the toy to check its softness
🔹Sharp edges or small parts that can break off
🔹Toxic chemicals or dyes
🔹Easily shreddable fabric or stuffing

3. Supervise Play: Always keep an eye on your pet while they’re playing, especially with new toys.

4. Check for Wear and Tear: Regularly inspect toys for damage. Discard any broken toys to prevent accidents.

HAPPY MONDAY 🫶

Meet Bowser! 🐾
This adorable Lab/Shepherd mix came to us with a non-healing corneal ulcer that had persisted for around six months. Thanks to a corneal debridement procedure at Staples Animal Hospital, Bowser’s ulcer healed beautifully in just a few weeks!

To help manage corneal scarring, Bowser is currently on eye drops—and doesn’t he look dashing in his protective goggles from ? 😎 His style is unmatched, and his calm demeanor makes him a true star.

A special thank you to Bowser’s dedicated owner, whose heartfelt message touched us deeply, and to his family veterinarian for referring him to us. Collaboration and care make all the difference, and we’re so grateful to have been part of Bowser’s journey to recovery. ❤️

TRAVELLING WITH YOUR PET? 🚗✈️

Latest requirements for travelling with your dog to the USA are -
🎫 Dogs must be 6 months of age with an up to date rabies vaccine
🎫 Dogs must have a microchip that can be scanned on a universal reader
🎫 Dogs must be healthy upon arrival
🎫 Owners* must complete the CDC import form

Planning on travelling abroad with your pet? As every country has different requirements and regulations, please contact the CFIA, Canadian Food Inspection Agency to obtain all the necessary information and paperwork.
From there they will advise you when to book your Health Certificate appointments with us.

Keeping our furry friends' eyes healthy is essential! One important test used by veterinarians is the Schirmer Tear Test.

🔬 How it’s done:
1. A small strip of special paper is placed inside the lower eyelid of your dog.
2. The strip absorbs tears for a few minutes to measure tear production.
👁️ Why it's important:
* Detects Dry Eye: Ensures your dog's eyes are producing enough tears to stay healthy and comfortable.
* Prevents Eye Infections: Proper tear production helps wash away debris and bacteria.

Today is World Rabies Day!

Rabies is a vaccine-preventable, zoonotic, viral disease affecting the central nervous system that is typically transmitted through saliva / being bitten.

With the first case of human rabies since 1967 being detected this month in Ontario it is a good reminder to make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccine and that you report any and all bites.
