✨Meet Monte!
Poor Monte recently came in with a swollen face, so we scheduled a dental procedure to look into why this might be happening! The dental x-rays showed the culprit—a tooth root abscess. These painful infections happen when bacteria enter the root of a tooth. This often is due to dental disease, a cracked tooth, or trauma. As the infection builds, it can cause facial swelling, pain when eating, drooling, bad breath, or reluctance to chew. 🦷
When we were doing his dental x-rays, we also noticed a broken tooth! Can you see where it is broken?
Tooth root abscesses don’t resolve on their own and require veterinary treatment to relieve pain and clear the infection. Sweet Monte boy is now on the road to feeling much better, and his case is a great reminder of why regular dental care is so important for our pets. 🐶💙
