🐈‍⬛🐾Guess who’s back……. Piri’s back !! This gorgeous girl is making her fourth round at Katie’s Place. And this time she’s fortunately put on some weight!!

💚Piri has hyperthyroidism which is a condition that can cause weight loss, increased appetite and urination, poor coat quality, vomiting and diarrhea. Piri suffers from most of these, and as a result has a hard time making it to the litter box on time 😞 . That is understandably hard to deal with in a home which is why she was brought back to us this fourth time!

😇🥰Despite her afflictions, Piri has a heart of gold and is very friendly and loving. Initially having come to us as a transfer from another shelter, she is now turning about 12 years old. She receives one type of medication twice a day !

💞We know that despite her special needs, the perfect home for our Piri girl is out there !!! Until then, she is safe and loved at Katie’s Place. Piri did flourish in foster care in some ways. Previously skinny and often uninterested in food with a dull and greasy coat, she came back soft and sleek and having put on some decent weight ! Being away from the stress of the shelter is good for her, and she’s hoping the fifth time is the charm !!! Stop by Elsie’s Suite to meet her this weekend from 12-2pm. 🌶️

✈️Northrop has a name, but you can just call him yours if you’d like 😉 Northrop is another one of our lowkey senior boys looking for a home. His buddy that he came in with (Boeing) recently passed away so he’s been down in the dumps.

❤️Despite his obviously charming good looks , this fella was bounced around on a “free” website until he was eventually surrendered and transferred to us from out of town. These websites are often sketchy at best so we don’t really know if he has ever had a shot at a safe and loving home. Having been with us for 8 months now , we think it’s high time he had his chance !!

🏡Northrops perfect home would be one where he is loved and doted on like he deserves. He does well with the other cats in his room, but wasn’t a big fan of the shenanigans of the younger cats🤣 (We’re looking at you, Simmons). Northrop is a quiet and lowkey couch potato who loves scratches behind his ears.

🐾🐈‍⬛He uses his litter box , and aside from getting his eye drops twice a day he is a healthy guy! He is also 11 years young. He is used to getting these drops now and takes them very well without fuss. If you’d like to meet Northrop, stop by Shirley’s Spot this weekend between 12-2pm!! He’ll be waiting 😉

😻💞No , your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you… Rouble is still with us (we have no idea why ?!?!). This adorable little face with a button nose is only 8 months old and has been with us for over a month now. She still has lots of her kitten hood left and we want her to live it out in her furrever home!!🏡

☀️For a stray, she was incredibly friendly and affectionate right off the bat. When you enter Shirley’s Spot she will come scope you out to see what’s going on ! The local agency in the area she was found would not take her in which is how she came to be a KP kitty, and we adore her!!

🏡Her perfect home is one with another kitty friend already in it to keep her company and be best friends with ! She can not be adopted as a single cat. She gets along with her room mates and uses her litter box well. This tabby princess would make a great family cat due to her loving but playful nature. She has now been spayed, vaccinated, and is in excellent health!!

💚Real talk though, look at that little face and try to say you didn’t fall in love right away!! We have some pretty amazing followers , so I have a feeling someone’s going to see this post and scoop her up!! Let’s make it happen💘

Vivian will spend so much time on your mind, you’ll have to start charging rent !! 🏡🐾Also known as “The Viv”, this beautiful 6 year old girl came to us just before Christmas.

🤎Having been transferred from another shelter , she was initially very overwhelmed by all the sights smells and sounds that Curtis Corner threw at her. While she has warmed up to her new surroundings, she is not crazy about her room mates and as such would need to go to a home as a single cat. She has lived with a large dog before and did well in that setting !😼

The Viv is not so much a lap cat, but she loves to follow you around and be in your presence once she knows you !! It may take a meet or two for her to warm up to you but once you’re in the cool club, you’re in !! 💚☀️She can be cranky from time to time, but this is likely just due to the stress of the shelter.

🏡🖤Her perfect home would be a quiet one , preferably no children as she is big on her boundaries !! She would also like a family who lets her explore at her own pace and understands a new setting is a big deal for her ! The Viv is patiently waiting , and she knows her furrever home is out there !! 🏡🐾Guess who got adopted !!!!!!!! Our CBO (chief biscuit officer) of over 6 months has gone off to his furrever home. Shirley’s spot won’t be the same without him but we are so glad he is going to get the love and spoiling he deserves. Thank you to Simmons new family for choosing to adopt, his life is forever changed because of it !!!

🐾🤍LOTI’S STORY : In February of 2024 Loti’s former owners left and surrendered him to a kennel/boarding facility. Loti was at that facility until Dec 2024 when he came to be with us !! As you can see Loti suffered from some extreme hair loss. This was due to overgrooming, likely because of stress. 😞

💙When he came to us, he had an incredibly sweet demeanor and sad eyes. We knew Loti was going to need some extra TLC to help him get back to his former glory. While his hair growth isn’t back to 100%, he has made some good progress during his time with us as you can see from the below photos. 🐈‍⬛ We feel in a good home this progress will continue and allow him to flourish!

At 5 years old, we don’t really know if Loti has ever had a shot at a loving and caring home💔. But what we do know is he deserves one now !! He has become extremely popular amongst our volunteers as he loves to crawl up onto our chests for a snuggle. If you’re looking for a quiet but affectionate cat, Loti is your man!! He has had recent bloodwork done with no notable concerns. 💪🏼

🏡His perfect home would be a quieter one where he will be loved on like he deserves. Preferably no dogs to prevent unnecessary stress. 😸Although he keeps to himself he gets along well with his room mates and can live with another kitty companion! If you think you might be the purrfect fit for our handsome boy, stop by the Main Pen this weekend between 12-2pm for some snuggle time with Loti!!

Much like your favourite song, you won’t be able to get our fashion queen Maple out of your head 🎶🎧!!! Maple originally comes from the streets of Mexico, but was surrendered to us in June of 2023… She will be coming up on 2 years in our shelter now 😞

🍁Now 9 years old , Maple loves to lounge about and reigns supreme being one of the only females in the boys pen. She’s seen a lot of silly business and antics in her room (we’re looking at you, Floyd) and as a result she has become quite tolerant. It takes a lot to rattle her!! She loves napping on top of the single in her room and she will arrange her blankets so they are just to her liking 😸!! The way to win her over is with food (fair enough!), and once she knows you as the food bringer she will always light up to see you when you enter the room.

💚Her perfect home would be one with an assortment of blankies. She could live as a single cat or get along well with a kitty friend !! Aside from being a bit overweight (don’t tell her we said that) she is a healthy girl. She occasionally pees outside of her litter box but we have worked on this and she has made great progress with this.

🏡One of our went to their furrever home together !!! Chesapeake and Orinoco came to us initially very scared and upset. They soon turned into a friendly loving duo who liked shoulder rides and chin scratches.

Our boy with the funny meow has gone off to his furrever home. The shelter doesn’t sound the same without him, but we’re very excited for his next chapter with his furrever family !!! 🖤🏡

We are sad to announce that our senior boy Boeing has crossed the rainbow bridge🌈. He was surrendered to us 8 months ago at the age of 11, and sadly he never got the chance at his furrever home. While he wasn’t the most “in your face” cat in his room, he was calm and loving and a joy to work with. We miss him deeply already.

A lot of senior cats are overlooked and will unfortunately spend the rest of their lives in a shelter setting. If you are thinking about adopting, please consider giving a senior kitty a chance. They deserve it too !!

Rest in peace Boeing, Katie’s Place loves you always❤️

🐾😸At Katie’s Place, we take in the wierdos and the oddballs that nobody else wants. We often end up with cats who have behavioral “quirks” or can be extremely shy. Our volunteers often joke around about who would win the most improved award if we had it …..

❤️So now we are pleased to present our first official nominee ASHER as the recipient of the KP most improved award!!!! 🏆🥇

🖤🐈‍⬛Our senior boy Asher was voted for this award because of his outstanding progress during his 6 months with us. When his owner went into hospice, he came to the shelter scared and alone. He spent probably 4 months hidden in the top corner shelf with his ears back, growling at us if we got too close.

But now …. He has started to explore the world below his perch and gets close to humans. While he is still wary of being pet, he loves to chirp for our attention and give us a quick lick on the hand to show his newfound trust. 💞While he still has progress to make , he has come a long way and for that he DESERVES this award.
We are committed to helping him further his progress by showing him love and patience.

Yesterday was a huge day for Katie’s Place. We had two craft booths at the Lions Club Winter Family Fun day, and the Valentines psychic fair and market. ❤️

Overall , between both events we raised $885.50!!!!!!!
This is the equivalent of 6 weeks of costco food for the WHOLE shelter , or 5 spays/neuters for cats who need it!! 😸😸

Huge shoutout to Barbara and Peri for spending their time running the psychic fair table. And another huge shoutout to Emily , Ashley, and your friendly neighbourhood facebook lady for doing the Winter Family Fun day Booth. 💘

Thank you to Kathleen Jeffrey as well as the Maple Ridge Lions Club for organizing these events. 💜

But most of all , thank you to all of YOU!!! Meeting you guys and hearing your Katie’s Place stories was very heartwarming, and the support we received was crazy!! We couldn’t do it without you. And thanks to you guys we now have a few more upcoming events you will be able to find the KP crew at 😉

- 2 more of our money cats💰💸, Shekal and Shilling have the cutest brother sister bond you will ever see. As such, they will ****NEED TO BE ADOPTED TOGETHER *** These two bonded besties were strays who turned up on someone’s porch , which is how they came to be with us 😞 . Both about 1 year old, these two are super affectionate not just with each other, but with volunteers too.

🤎Shekal (Larger darker tabby) - A healthy boy who likes to sit on your lap while he snoozes. Loves a good old fashioned dangly toy and has his playful side as well !! Hobbies include spooning with Shilling, snacking, and exploring his room. He eats well and uses his litter box well … Shekal is the whole package !🥰

🤍Shilling (smaller light brown tabby) - A friendly girl who enjoys similar things to her brother. She would spend all day with him if she could , but she’s happy to nap solo while he’s off looking for treats. She is also healthy and uses her litter box well. Together , these two make quite possibly the cutest duo you will ever lay eyes on!!! 😻

🏡💞This dynamic duo would do excellent as family cats due to their gentle , affectionate and playful natures. They have made good friends with their roommates at the shelter and would do well with another cat as well !!
You can find them (probably together) in the Main Pen where they are waiting for their furrever family !! 💙💜
