We had one of our favourite visitors recently! Sheldon is what we would call a ”frequent flyer”. Thankfully he is the sweetest boy and we love his visits! First an ultrasound (with some snuggles of course)….then we put him to work!😊

TRAVELING TO THE UNITED STATES WITH YOUR DOG AFTER AUGUST 1? 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Happy Wednesday! Just a reminder if you are crossing the border into the United States with your dog there is now new regulations that will involve paperwork that has to be endorsed by the CFIA (which will require an appointment with them), uploading photos of your dog and filling out some forms online. The exact regulations will be set on July 15 2024 and that is when you will be able to fill the official forms out. I would recommend getting a head start on this by going to the CDC website (cdc.gov) and using the search bar (search dog import) as there are several steps which will take some time.
We will know the exact process on July 15th but it will be very similar to what the website shows now.
Have a great day!

UPDATE - The CDC rules have now been officialized. All dogs must be over 6 months of age to travel to the United States. They must be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. There is a "Dog Import Form" for owners to fill out on the CDC website which includes uploading a picture of the dog. Your veterinarian will also need to fill out some paperwork called "Certification of Dog Arriving from DMRVV-free or Low-Risk Country into the United States form". To fill have this form filled out we will need to see your dog for a check up and to scan the microchip. Despite what the CDC website says we have been told by the CFIA that the paperwork does not have to be endorsed by a government registered veterinarian. Check out cdc.gov for more information,

Our dear sweet Gigi had to have some facial lesions biopsied under anesthetic today. He was brave and was so glad to have so much love and snuggles afterwards. Hopefully his beautiful face won’t be scarred! We feel confident the lesions will be benign but its better to be safe when it comes to this little man!

*UPDATE* Gigi's biopsies came back as benign! Relief 🫶

We mentioned in a previous post that Dr. Chubaty's dog Ranger had his leg amputated due to a fracture on top of previously diagnosed orthopedic issues. Unfortunately, he ended up having an osteosarcoma which is what caused the fracture in that leg. Long walks have been hard on him with his skeletal issues so his parents made him this wagon! They have affectionately named it his "Range Rover"!

IMPORTANT NEW GUIDELINES FOR TAKING YOUR DOG TO THE UNITED STATES:

In an effort to prevent the spread of Rabies the CDC has launched new rules for taking dogs into the Unites States. The new regulations will start August 1 2024. All dogs entering the US must appear healthy, be at least 6 months of age, be microchipped and accompanied by a "CDC Dog Import Form" receipt. The import form must be filled out online 2-10 days before crossing the border. This applies to all dogs including service dogs and dogs that were born in the United States but are returning from another country. More requirements may apply if the dog has traveled to other countries within the previous six months.
The CDC website offers a travel checklist and is where you can find the "CDC Dog Import Form".

Another successful C-Section! This mama cat had four babies on her own but just couldn't do the last five without help. She was a stray found and taken in by one of our wonderful clients about a month ago. She is very lucky. Mom and babies doing well!

* Edit - There are so many people interested in these kittens! Unfortunately we are not involved in the adoption of these babies. I will pass along the interest to the owner. Thanks!

Is your pet safe from the total eclipse? The solar eclipse is dangerous for people because we want to stare at the amazing sight! Pets do not have the same inclination. A quick look will not cause damage but just to be safe, we recommend keeping your pets indoors. Animals are very good at picking up changes in the environment and some studies say they may show signs of stress or anxiety. Stay safe and enjoy the experience!
