We’re inside of 4 weeks from the first does due of the season, feet are trimmed, vaccines and minerals have been boosted and bellies are rapidly expanding.

The week before due dates the does will get a sanitary clip of the udder and back end to keep everything neat and tidy!
Pen setup will begin this week as well!

In all her glory ….

Givernay Mostly Modest might be the only Nubian on the farm but she covers her feed bill every year easily.
She’s given us 9 purebred Nubian and 6 crossbred kids in 5 freshenings so far.
This weekend we’re going to AI her for the first time, see if this fertile beast can’t make us something pretty and purebred again ❤️

Somehow we’re into the final month of gestation for our first kidding group of 2025!

Making milk every day… I made a decision a few months ago to see how long they’ll stay in milk this lactation.
Both does are capable of a full 305+ day lactation and have done that in the past but let’s just see if we can take a swing at 18 months shall we?
2022-2023 both does Milked over 365 days,
2023-2024 they both did over 305,
This year they were pushed back to once a day in the fall but are happily still churning 2.5-3kg once a day in their 7th month in milk, we’ll keep going as long as they will!

All orders have been mailed but there could be some delays with the holiday & back log from the strike!! With some producers already calving & some getting ready to start calving 👋 I have good stock on hand of all sizes and am shipping daily!!
