Spring is finally right around the corner!! 🌱

Looking ahead to Spring/Summer it’s time to start thinking about getting your horses booked in! We are switching our program up a tiny bit as we are planning on only taking a few c**t starts from March-September.

If you have a c**t you want started in these months it is best to think ahead & book now before there is no availability left.

Spring and summer is a great time to book in your horses that are in need of ranch miles, arena miles, rope horse training on the heelomatic and live cattle, as our time is much more focused on this during these months.

Currently we have 1 spot left in February/March & then we are booking ahead into the spring & summer months!

Good c**t starters are getting harder to find — and that should worry people.

The horse industry is on fire right now. Incentives are growing, big shows are packed, and everyone wants a broke, confident young horse ready to go.

What’s in short supply?
Horsemen who can start one right.

C**t starting isn’t a quick tune-up or a 30-day flip. The foundation and first few rides shape how a horse thinks for the rest of its life. Rush it, cheap out, or put it in the wrong hands, and you’ll spend years trying to fix it — if you ever can.

Every c**t learns differently. Some figure it out quick, others need time. That’s not weakness — that’s horsemanship. The good ones adjust instead of forcing a timeline.

If the c**t starter you want is booked solid, that’s not a problem — that’s a sign. Ask who they trust and wait your turn if you have to. Settling almost always costs more.

Start them when they’re ready. Keep the rides short, clear, and intentional. Give them 90–120 days if you want something that lasts.

And here’s the part people don’t like hearing:
Pay your c**t starter. Pay them well.
It’s not expensive — it’s insurance.

Top things we HATE to hear as c**t starters: 🐴

1. “I would do it myself I just can’t afford to get hurt”

And you think we can!? This is how we make a living, how we pay our bills and feed our children. 🤦‍♀️ We cant afford to get hurt either BUT we have the skills and program to do this in the most successful and safest way possible.

2. “I would do it myself it’s just I don’t bounce like I used to”

Yeah neither do we, and as professional c**t starters we actually don’t hit the ground very often and we hope to keep it that way (Knock on wood).

3. “I don’t need all that fancy stuff, I just need someone to ride the bucks out for a few rides”

You’ll need to find a different program. If all you care about is a crash test dummy be upfront about that and see what c**t starters call you back. Starting c**ts is hard enough on our bodies we don’t get paid enough to just hop on and see what your horse feels like doing to us.

4. “I did all the groundwork already so you can just start riding - because I can only afford 30 days training”

Thank you for trying to prepare your c**t, but I will still be going through my checklist on the ground to be sure your c**t is prepared and a first ride will be successful. We do not offer 30 day c**t starts as it’s just not enough time for your c**t to get a foundation built that will last when you take them home.

5. “I’m a super novice rider and I can’t wait to start riding my first 2yr old! Is 60 days enough?”

No it’s not, even the quietest c**ts need TIME to build a solid foundation that won’t crumble. They will learn so much while they are being started but it takes time for skills to become concrete, and for a horse to be confident making up for mistakes of novice riders.

So as we head into c**t starting season, give your starter the time they need, don’t rush the process and dont treat their body or skills like they are less than.

Every great horse has a first chapter, and sometimes it doesn’t go as planned.

About a month ago in Tulsa, Casey showed Bellissimo, a very talented 3-year-old making his very first trip to the show pen. When the lights, judges, and atmosphere became overwhelming, Casey stopped, petted him, stepped off and quietly walked out. He knew the horse was special, but he also knew that forcing the moment wouldn’t build the confidence Bellissimo needed. (Picture from that moment)

Instead, they went home, hauled him around a few places, and worked with him.

Fast forward to today: Bellissimo just walked into the All American Quarter Horse Congress Open Futurity and marked a 221 — currently leading the Open Prelims for Arcese Quarter Horses. 🙌

That’s horsemanship. Believing in the horse, giving them patience, and knowing that the right foundation today will build champions tomorrow.

Looking ahead to next year’s Spring/Summer months we already have a few bookings in. We are switching our program up a tiny bit as we are planning on only taking a few c**t starts from March-September.

If you have a c**t you want started in these months it is best to think ahead & book now before there is no availability left!

We plan on taking more broke horses in these months that need miles, ranch & rope work and being able to focus more on our personal herd as well.

Currently we have a few spots left in November & then we are booking into January/February.
