Congratulations to Dr. Rick Knill! This week he was the recipient of the Ontario Association of Bovine Practioner's Veterinary Service Award.

The award is to honour a veterinarian who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to the bovine industry. We think Dr. Rick is well deserving of this recognition and we are grateful to have him on the Milverton-Wellesley Veterinary Services team!

Dr. John Hordyk Retirement announcement 📣

After 38 years of practicing veterinary medicine, I will be hanging up my stethoscope and taking off the re**al sleeves for the last time on September 27th. I hope to spend more time with Brenda, my wife of 43 years, and our 5 children, their spouses, and our 5 grandkids. And of course, get in some more time for hunting, fishing and enjoying our cabin up north.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph in 1982 and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1986. Brenda and I met on the Thanksgiving weekend in 1976 so she has been a part of my education and career from the beginning and looks forward to seeing more of me. My first job was in Goderich in a two-veterinarian mixed animal practice that was very busy. In 1988 I joined Milverton-Wellesley Veterinary Services and have been practicing here ever since. The irony is that I decided to be a veterinarian rather than a doctor because I thought that working with animals would be more interesting than dealing with people. But the truth is that working on animals with their owners has been very rewarding and it’s the people/farmers that I will miss the most!
It’s been a great job and I want to thank our clients for being so wonderful to work with for these past 36 years. We have a great team of veterinarians and staff here at Milverton Wellesley Veterinary Services and I leave knowing that you and your animals will be well taken care of.

We are happy to report that Dr. Jeff Sommer is slowly returning to work following his successful hip surgery in June. Yesterday he spent the day with students at the Wellesley Fall Fair Dairy Education program.
