Rain is a good thing 🌦️

Most owners mention how sorry they are when I pick their dogs up for a hike and it is pouring rain. But to be honest: the dogs and I love it!

It's almost guaranteed that we have the trails for ourselves on a rainy weekday early morning and it doesn't even make me mad when Rosie jumps into the truck while I'm getting the towel out 🙃

Photodump: Fiest!

We had the pleasure to have this beautiful lady staying with us last week. Fiest is a wonderful, young german shepherd who is, thanks to her owner who is a (retired) dog trainer, one of the most well behaved dogs I've ever met.
Dexter and Whiskey love her and I hope this won't have been the last time for her staying with us! 🐾

My first business cards 🌻

They just got printed this week and I'm really proud of them since I designed them myself 🙃 Before getting into farming I worked in marketing, communication and design and it's still nice to use those skills once in a while... especially now that I'm building something for myself.

My website: vivis.ca is not online yet but I'm working on it! February was crazy busy and I'm hoping to catch a little bit of a breather in March.

Thank you for everybody who supported and has trusted me with their animals so far. You and your furry and feathered friends make dealing with paperwork, insurance and bylaws worth it 🥰

Got to learn hands on from Jenn and her K9 "Chaos" about canine health, emergency first aid and CPR yesterday. Hope I will never have to use any of this but are prepared now in case anything should happen to your pup while in my care. 🐾

Never a dull day on the farm.. Luckily I found those two guys in the field tonight shortly after they were born. We weren't expecting lambs so this was such a nice surprise. And it just so happened that I had a former sheep farmer around who was able to teach me what to do, how to get the mom to accept both babies and how to let them have their first feeding. I'm so filled with joy and so grateful that I get to do what I love and grateful that I found ewe 🐑

I have a new phone so I will finally be able to take and share high quality pictures from my walks, hikes and farms!

Today's favorite shots are of Batman (Frenchton) and Joker (Boxer). I get to walk this handsome duo three times a week and haven't found a dog that can keep up to their energy yet!

Today my boy Dexter has been with me for 7 years. Before I picked him up, for a few weeks every Sunday I would drive 6h down to southern Germany to see him. I raised him in my tiny apartment and he used to come to the office with me everyday. When he was about 1.5 years old we flew over the ocean together and traveled Canada for a year. On this journey Dexter has not just never left my side but also led my path. Decisions were made because of him. Which place to stay at, which trails to hike and which farms to work on. He adapted from office dog, to world traveler, to farm dog and he has been killing all of it. Since 3 years Justin and Piper are in our lives and not just has Dexter gained a "step dad" in Justin but also a best friend in Piper. At this stage in his life he gets to enjoy a big full fenced yard and daily walks and hikes with the dogs I sit, care for and get to look after. And every time I'm out walking dogs I always think how mine is the best of all of them (I know every dog owner thinks their dog is the best and none of us is wrong 🥰). Anyways - here is the best of Dexter. To 7 more years full of tail wags, smiles and adventures 🐾

I’m passionate about raising livestock and caring for animals. I’ve been in the farm industry for more than 5 years and worked on hobby- as well as commercial farms. I specialize in poultry farming but also have experience in working with goats, sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys, cattle and bison.
