Young albino Cal king laying 1st egg this season. She slugged out last yr as I didn't think she was ready, but she pushed out 4 bad eggs.
It's a big egg so a little concern she will get tired towards the last eggs.
This girl is a machine.
16 eggs last nite! 15 last yr and then another 6 in 2nd clutch.
She needs a break but as soon as feed her, she will start to bulk up again so she will be on a low carb diet this summer:).
She is a desert king x banded Cal cross from yrs ago and both parents were huge so at 4 ft, she is an egg factory.
MBK laying last of her 7 eggs...of course she did not use her lay box:(
Luckily I take out the water bowl as soon as they have thier pre lay shed just so they dont lay in water....and then she gets her water right after she is done and eggs r put into incubator.
2 more MBK to go in short order, which was first clutch produced by COOLBREEDS back in 1991!
Note: video is 2x speed
Time to do the herky jerky!
Usually one of the first to go, desert kings.
Wakey wakey time!
Western common kings out 1st (California, desert, and mbk)
'Bitey ' is a cross between a banded coastal cal and the largest desert king I ever saw.
She has been a breeding machine, double clutching last yr for over 20 eggs. An aggressive eater, thus the name, but bright clrs w contrast and that deep yellow face!
It may be time to give her a break !
Clutch 3.
Bit of a surprise as albino striped sub adult acquired last yr was apparently a Male:)
Feeding response out of hibernation was a clue and so i checked.
Turned out he was a she....and developing follicles!
Put in the lav alb striped male and instant attraction:)
Looks like 6 eggs for this young lady!
Expectation is visual normals, double hets.....most likely striped patterns but who knows:)
