We groom dogs of ALL sizes in a one-on-one enviroment, to reduce the chaos. No walk-in services, we operate by appointment only.

Echo (a 3yr old Cane Corso) is a girl afraid of water but not today. She’s a clean pup. We made sure she was comfortable and kept any added noise and sudden movements down to a minimum…. And the goobery kisses, we need showers now lol! 😆

At Big Dog Grooming we believe that puppies 🐶 should get used to being groomed at a fairly early age.

Meet Rudy, a 4 month old Bernadoodle in for a bath, dry, nail trim, and face tidy so you can see those puppy eyes …and a paw touch up. On his next visit he will be ready for a full haircut.

A puppy’s first appointment allows them to get comfortable with their surroundings, the sounds and smells.

Being a one-on-one groomer, this time is designed to reduce the anxiety that comes with being in a new environment. When it’s just us and them, and no unsafe distractions they do amazing.

Rudy really did well - he loves to cuddle when his body was being dried, but he didn’t like the dryer on his head so we dried from a distance.

Before he left we practiced going up and down the steps that lead to the table, we turned on clippers so he’d get familiar with the vibration on his body and of course played for a little bit ….and lots of kisses were given by this sweet boy. So hard to say goodbye to them when they are this adorable. 🥰

Timber a Golden Retriever and Atlas a (186 lb) Leonberger, came in for a full groom this afternoon! Both left feeling and looking like a ‘million bucks’!

They’re both from the same household, so we allow multiple dogs in the shop, when they live together. It helps them feel safe. Otherwise we groom ‘one-on-one’.

Timber took a nap while his big brother had his turn. We love when we see that, it tells us they’re so comfortable and relaxed, and that is what we strive for!

Sunny experienced an introduction to grooming today with a bath and tidy. You can now see his cute little eyes!

Sunny is a 4 month old puppy, and at that age, it’s the most ideal time to start getting use to coming to be groomed. Your dog does not have to have a full groom, baths are a great way to get them comfortable with the process.

Our dog grooming prices are based on dogs who have good behaviour towards grooming, good fur, and skin condition, AND come on regularly scheduled grooming appointments of 6-8 weeks. This allows us to proceed with grooming right away without struggling with pre-grooming preparations.

A grooming session generally takes approximately 1.5-3 hours to complete. Time varies due to pet size and condition of coat.

Our full grooming package is a comprehensive service and includes bathing, brushing (and de-shedding), 10 minutes of de-matting, hair cutting (if required for your pet's breed or comfort), sanitary clip, external a**l gland expression, nail trimming and grind for a smooth finish, ear cleaning, and even teeth brushing. (Some dogs will not tolerate all of these services, and we will not force them, or jeopardize anyone's safety)

We are happy to do an in-person consult to confirm pricing.

The longer a dog takes to do, the higher the price, because there’s more labour and time involved, the shorter time on the table equals rates at the lower end.

Medium Dog (long-haired breeds are higher in price given there is more time involved in bathing/drying, brushing, trimming)

X-Large-Giant Dog $150+
(e.g. Saint Bernard, Newfoundlander)

( + ) Grooming prices may vary depending on your dog’s SIZE, FUR CONDITION AND/OR TYPE, BEHAVIOUR, AND OVERALL HEALTH OF YOUR DOG. The longer they require to be completed, the more the rate will reasonably increase.

We use only premium shampoos and conditioners on our clients. Specialty shampoos are also available for an additional $10 charge, eg. blueberry for whitening, oatmeal for skin, etc.

*** We do not do Flea & Skunk Baths *** If your pet has fleas please contact us to reschedule once you have had them on a treatment for 4 weeks.

There will be a $50.00 cancellation fee per dog if 24-hour notice is not provided. There are additional fees for overly aggressive pets that will not allow us to perform our service. Other circumstances that may impact pricing include temperament, coat condition/thickness, matting, size, or any special needs.

Our grooming appointments operate as one-on one to help keep a calm environment. This allows every pup to enjoy their own personalized spa day.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to go over any special requests, haircut options, or any new health issues. Each client will have to complete a grooming agreement with owner's address info, etc/consent.

Hello Mitchell and surrounding area!

Steph and Steve, the husband and wife grooming team you grew to love, have returned, permanently. 4 years ago we operated as Whisker Worx and when we were on the east coast, we operated as Big Dog Camp + Resort - Grooming, Daycare & Boarding.

We changed names because we wanted to be known for large breed grooming. We also continued to groom all sizes of dogs, as little ones believe that they are big and mighty too!

We groom one-on-one, as grooming can be a stressful experience when in a large shop with many dogs being groomed and waiting in crates for their turn. We are not an assembly line like big box stores, our focus is on one dog at a time, making your dog's session safe and caring. We can read their behaviour and stop when they show us signs that they need a break.

We only allow multiple dogs in our shop when they are from the same household. If you have a multi-dog house, all dogs must be booked for an appointment.
