Glorious morning!
We rocked a 4km canicross interval run, it was a little more technical due to wet grass, mud roots and bridges. Thankfully the only wipe out was me 😂 cleared the water in the ditch only to land on the other side and immediately fall 💦 Dogs were AWESOME! They worked as a team with their pet-parents and were great with other. Dogs had pretty good focus, forward movement, mindful and working while passing and being passed.

We enjoyed a lovely canihike afterwards with a large group and couldn’t be happier with the dogs and how well everyone supported their dogs for success and to help each other. You guys are AMAZING! Proud of the dogs as they navigated parkour, settles and fitness exercises in the park 🐾

Ren Snowcoyote Darling and I enjoying our canisniffwalk! I love walking in a double traction belt, bungee and proper harness while enjoying the environment and each other’s company. I didn’t always enjoy these walks! We worked truly hard on reinforcing the 3 safe parts of the predatory motor pattern •scent, scan and search •eye and stalk •creep Predation substitute tools and games help support my very prey driven Canadian Eskimo dog! Predation is genetic, that will not just disappear but we can use predation substitute training to guide it and enjoy safe outings and recalls. There was a time, walking on leash during our sniff walks, when in under 5 seconds my dog would stop and kill pounce like a coyote into the long grass and kill bite a small prey before I could even discern she had even scented an animal. As she is a rescue and to stay alive before she was found she likely practiced very successfully these behaviours.

We got some distance with our AROUND the well today - no small feat for this Canadian Eskimo dog 🤣 like hunting small prey would be so much cooler! I did reinforce the big successes with stare and stalk behaviours 😉

Novice parkour 2ft on shoulder height Good example of why spotting is so important 😁 Ren is easily bored, easily distracted when she finds something non exciting. It can be a challenge to keep her motivated to perform certain behaviours meticulously. She’s a very smart girl but she knows her mind!

Parkour AROUND - new obstacle :) will work on distance next. Good job Ren Snowcoyote darling

I am a certified dog trainer with many years experience working with small and large dogs in rural and urban settings, ranging from basic behaviours to dogs with behavioural issues. I believe dog training should be a fun and positive learning experience using science based methods.
