An innovative idea developed in Spain and now available in BC!! As optional means for disbursement of cremation ashes in both humans and pets. The process is clean and green. The urns are created out of a biodegradable material, made primarily of coconut shells, and allow for the cremation ashes to be placed in the urn with a composted mixture of soil and fertiliser and a tree seed, wh
ich is placed into the ground of choice and eventually grows into a tree. The tree then does its job and returns oxygen to the atmosphere and the container composts back into the earth, leaving no damaging chemicals or by-products. Once the cremation process has occurred, the ashes are returned to the family. The family then prepares the Bios Urn, by placing the ashes in it, and then following the steps outlined on the box to place the soil and seed, and then place the urn in its entirety into the ground. The loved ones of the deceased pet or person now have a living memorial to cherish
The Product: Bios Urn is a biodegradable urn, designed to turn the ashes of a person or pet into a tree. Thanks to its design and manufacture, the urn provides proper germination and later growth of the tree, based on a person or pet’s ashes. In this way, death becomes a transformation and return to life by means of nature. Product creation: Bios Urn was an idea from designer Gerard Moliné, introduced in 1997. Later on, in 2002, Bios Urn won the ADI FAD medal, and in 2005, it was a Top Nominee for the INDEX Award and Premio Expohogar Regalo (Exhihome Gift Award). How it works:
The top capsule of Bios Urn was built to facilitate the growth of the seed. Before burying the urn you have to mix the components with some soil from where you want to plant the urn. The components allow proper seed germination. Thanks to Bios Urn structure, the seed germinates in the top capsule, separated from the ashes. Once the urn starts to biodegrade seed roots are already strong enough to contact the ashes. With biodegradation the entire set becomes part of the sub-soil. Current Seed Available:
