Who remembers the doodle that was in a couple of weeks ago, whom had to be muzzeled and was in for it's first groom ever at almost 2 years old?
Watch this video!
I can't even believe how this session went. Right now I am solely focusing on desensitization only. This dog is absolutely scared of the sound of the clippers and blow dryer, and being made to do things, like sit there for a brush or nail trim.
Not only did Vladdy PRANCE into the salon, he was wholeheartedly excited to start his session! With "some" treats and pettings i started by trying to put the noose on him. I immediately knew we needed to take it a step back. He had that look of, no effing way in his eyes lol. He did get it on but after a couple minutes I decided to work him without it.
We started by just treating him eveytime he touched the table. This quickly progressed to him putting both front paws on the table, and eventually getting ALL FOUR PAWS on the table!!
He thought we were playing the funnest game!
Here is a video showing how he is now on the table and loving the treats and attention!
He is giving me his paw and I am rubbing it as much as I can! All without restraint. I then towards the end of the session added the loop and hooked the loop to the table. The loop was however loose enough that if things took a turn for the bad, he could easily get out of it.
Instead, he stayed there and when he found out he was attached, he was okay and didn't freak out!
It was SOOO important to make sure this experience in the salon today went well.
He was only in for 25 minutes but it went WAY better than any of us anticipated so we ended on a high note!
We are essentially making up for 12 to 24 grooming appointments that he has missed through the first 2 years of his life so this can be a long process to get him comfortable to be fully groomed and looking good. But mom is committed and ready to do what she needs to help her boy!
ATTENTION; to the dogs that need to be brushed..... PLEASE watch 🤪
It is soooo important to keep up brushing your dog at home! Marley here is in great condition and does get brushed and I still find tables which is normal. But if you are not consistently doing this on a regular basis, and i do it for you once every so many months, it is harder on your dog, their skin and their coat.
Also.... please youtube "Line Brushing dogs" 🥰
Clients still need to brush at home to keep the skin nourished and the coat healthy 🫶
Apparently I am alll about the videos lately! 😝
Warning this is a long one but I hope this shows a little behind the scenes 🥰
** I stand corrected.... I was able.to learn more about Robert/ robby / bobbys, history when his owners came to get him! He was actually important recently from Romania and was going to be a stud dog for Thistleview Scotties! Now he has a wonderful home 🥰
Another video today since I am not rushed this morning 😅🙈
I bit of a better video explaining brushing. This is a good technique for all dogs that need to be brushed regularly and have some coat on them. Short coated breeds are exampt from this though 😝
