Attention all kitten lovers! The HSDR is currently caring for over 40 kittens in foster homes and in our centre. If you have been thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, now is the time! A big Ontario SPCA & Humane Society shout out to Savannah, who at 9 yrs old decided she wanted to this summer host a lemonade stand for the York Region Animal Centre. She had fresh lemonade, cookies and popsicles for sale and she raised an amazing $64 for the animals in our care.

Every animal deserves a loving home. At the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, we strive to find a home for each animal that comes into our care, no matter how long it takes. Unfortunately, some animals are overlooked by adopters and it takes them a little longer before they walk out our doors with their new family. 🏡

We refer to animals who have been in our care for over 30 days as long-term residents. To help these furry friends find their home, we have added a frame with the “long-term resident” designation around the photos of these animals on our adoption page. If you have been thinking about adopting, consider a long-term resident! 🐾

Feel Good Friday! When Animal Services brought in two 3 day old kittens, staff member Sarah sprung into action and started bottle-feeding them. At this age they needed to be fed every 2 hours, so not much sleep was to be had. That same week one of our cats in foster gave birth to two adorable babies . After making sure the babies and mom were healthy we asked our amazing foster parent if she would take on the 2 orphan babies and see if the momma cat would accept them as her own. The orphan kittens (black and white/black) latched on immediately! What an amazing momma!

Sunflower needs you! This sweet boy loves his people more than anything else in the world. He'll happily be a 70 pound lap dog and he can be around other dogs! Sounds like a match? 📧 [email protected]
