At Algonquin Acres, we take a moment to honor and express our deepest gratitude to all veterans and Indigenous veterans for their extraordinary bravery and sacrifice. Today, we especially remember my grandfather, Bennie Vicaire, who served in the Korean War. His courage and commitment inspire us and remind us of the profound impact our servicemen and women have made.

We also pay tribute to the noble horses that served alongside them, whose strength and loyalty were invaluable in times of conflict. Thank you to all who have served—your legacy continues to shape our world. 🌹

Thank you Listuguj Mi'gmaq First Nation for honouring my grandfather with this beautiful flag hung annually in the community.

🌾🐴 The Power of Sensory Play in Equine Assisted Learning! 🐴🌾

At Algonquin Acres, we know that sensory play is a powerful tool for growth and development. Creating farm-themed sensory bins like these ones helps kids connect with nature, build motor skills, and boost creativity—all while having fun!

This little one is not only crafting her own farm world, but also developing confidence, problem-solving skills, and emotional awareness. It's the perfect complement to our equine-assisted learning programs! 🌱🐴

This past weekend two of our senior students got to attend an Emergency Prepardness and Disaster planning Course with Equi-Health Canada as well as an Equine Emergency First Aid course. ⛑️

I was able to take this course many years ago and it has always stuck with me, I was so glad to be able to re do it with my students and fellow coach, and I’m so grateful we have an awesome little team to work together in case of an emergency on the farm ❤️

Our students got to learn about
- Evacuation
- Wound care
- Vital Signs
- Horse handling in an emergency

And so much more!

A Heartfelt Thank You to FIRE 1 for Their Generous Donation! ❤️

We are deeply grateful to FIRE 1 for their generous $500 donation towards our students' upcoming trip to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. This incredible opportunity allows our senior students to explore the vast equine industry and learn about the countless new and exciting possibilities it offers. It's a place where dreams grow, and we are thrilled to provide this experience for them. ✨

We were so touched when Lori Ann from FIRE 1 reached out to inform us that although she couldn't attend our fall fundraising event, she still wanted to support us with this donation. Her generosity truly moved us. Lori-Ann, a fellow Pow Wow Pitch competitor and the 2023 recipient of the Mastercard Game Changer Award, has inspired us with her work. Her business, which trains responders for forest fires, is so vital—especially for those of us in the equine community who are directly impacted by these natural disasters. Our students just attended an emergency preparedness course this past weekend to learn about how disastrous these fires truly can be, and how they can respond to keep their horses safe.

Pow Wow Pitch is an amazing community, one that fosters meaningful connections and lasting support. We are honored to be a part of it and grateful for the friendships and collaborations it continues to cultivate. ❤️

Last week we wrapped up our last pony camp of the season, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our summer programs here at Algonquin Acres. It has been an incredible summer filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories with both our horses and riders. We are so grateful to have shared these experiences with such a wonderful community. ☀️🐴
