With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved horse Cloudy has started his journey to the spirit world today.

Cloudy wasn’t just a horse—he was part of our family. He carried nervous first-timers with care, helped heal hearts with his steady presence, and stood proudly beside so many of you through your journeys at the farm. His gentle spirit, kind eyes, and unwavering patience touched every soul who had the honour of knowing him.

This is a tremendous loss for our entire Algonquin Acres community.

We understand how deeply this may affect our students. If any of you need grief support as you navigate this loss, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we are here for you.

As our family takes time to grieve and heal, all programs will be paused for the next week.

We will come together to celebrate Cloudy’s life on Friday, July 18th, 2025, at the farm at 6PM. Everyone is welcome to join us in honouring him with love, stories, and gratitude. Grief support will be available during the celebration for anyone who would like it.

Thank you, Cloudy, for everything. You were truly one of a kind, and we will carry you in our hearts always.

Run free now, sweet boy. 🤍🐴

We’re off to a great start this summer at the farm! ☀️🐴

This week we welcomed some new students who finally made it off the waitlist and into the barn — it was so nice to see new faces getting to know our herd! We also had our returning students back to kick off the season, and our show team girls got in some solid practice time. 🐎

A big thank you to the 21 little visitors from Beaverhouse First Nation who came out for a fun visit — we had such a great time hosting you and can’t wait to havee you all back!

Looking forward to all the memories still to come this summer! 💛

What an incredible weekend at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival in Ottawa! 🌞🐴

Our students Kiesha and Sarianna, from Algonquin Acres in Timiskaming First Nation, had an unforgettable opportunity to connect with culture, community, and horses in such a meaningful way.

The event took place at Wesley Clover Parks, a stunning, state-of-the-art horse show facility—where the girls even had the chance to ride in an arena with million-dollar footing and take a hack around the property! An unforgettable experience for any young rider.

They spent the weekend alongside the team from Madahoki Farm, helping to host public visits and even rode the incredible Ojibwe Spirit Ponies—a rare and sacred Indigenous breed known for their strength, resilience, and deep spiritual connection to our ancestors.

Once nearly extinct, these ponies are being lovingly preserved and reintroduced through the efforts of dedicated farms like Madahoki. It was an honour for our students to spend time with them and share their story with the public. 💛

Kiesha also proudly carried the Every Child Matters flag on horseback around the Pow Wow Grounds—an honour she continues to represent with strength, pride, and heart.

Our beloved horse Express took part in an Indian Relay demonstration with members of the JJ Nosimak Relay Team, who travelled all the way from Alberta to share this thrilling tradition with the community. A dream come true for myself to connect with relay riders. ❤️🪶

We were also thrilled to meet the wonderful team from Mountain Stone Equine, who—like us and Madahoki Farm—offer Equine-Assisted Learning programs rooted in healing, horsemanship, and Indigenous culture. The connections made throughout the weekend were deeply inspiring.

As the founder of Algonquin Acres, I was so grateful for this experience—for myself and for our two senior students, who have been with us for nearly four years now. Watching them step into leadership roles with confidence, care, and pride was incredibly special.

A huge thank you to Trina from Madahoki Farm for inviting us and welcoming us with open arms.

The weekend was not only full of horses and culture—it was full of new friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Chi Miigwetch to everyone who made it possible! ❤️🪶🐴

💛 Honoured to return to Pow Wow Pitch in a new role this year 💛

As the 2024 Health & Wellness Division Winner and Alumni’s Choice Award recipient, I’m incredibly grateful for the recognition Algonquin Acres has received through this amazing platform and the beautiful opportunities we’ve had along the way!

This year, I’m proud to be returning as a Judge for the Health & Wellness division. I’m looking forward to supporting this year’s entrepreneurs and celebrating the powerful work being done in our communities. ✨

🎉 Celebrating 2 Years with Coach Kass! 🎉

Two years ago, Kass made the big move from Southern Ontario to join us here at Algonquin Acres — and what a difference she’s made! 💛

From early mornings in the barn to leading lessons with patience and heart, Kass brings dedication, kindness, and a whole lot of knowledge from her Equine and Agriculture University studies, to everything she does.

Our students absolutely adore her — whether it's cheering them on in the arena, helping them build confidence, or just being someone they know they can trust. She's more than a coach — she's a role model, a mentor, and a friend.

Thank you, Kass, for all the love and care you bring to our farm family. We can’t imagine Algonquin Acres without you! ❤️✨

🌟 A HUGE thank you to Darlene Jackson for coming out to Algonquin Acres for the third year in a row to run an incredible barrel racing clinic! 🌟

Darlene, as an NBHA and OBRA champion, you bring so much knowledge, skill, and heart to our farm. Your patience, encouragement, and championship-level coaching inspire our students every year — and this weekend was no exception!

We were thrilled to have a full clinic of 15 riders this year and had such a great time welcoming the wonderful group from Mirrored Image Farms to join in the fun! 💛🐎

We are so proud of all the students who worked so hard all weekend, pushing themselves, learning, and growing with every ride.

And a big thank you to Caroline Giroux-Champagne for capturing so many awesome moments with her photos! 📸

Thank you, Darlene, for helping shape the next generation of riders and for being such a special part of the Algonquin Acres family. We can’t wait to welcome you back again! 🌿

📣 A Note to Our Algonquin Acres Families on the Waitlist 📣

Over the next three weeks, I will be travelling with my daughter as she attends intensive physical therapy sessions. While I’m away from the farm, I’ll still be hard at work behind the scenes!

During this time, I’ll be connecting with parents and support workers via Zoom to complete the necessary forms and build individual programs, and schedules so that we’re ready to welcome new students in June—just in time for a great summer at Algonquin Acres!

If you’re on our waitlist for services, please know that you haven’t been forgotten. We’re actively working to get your children started, and we’re so excited to bring them into the program soon.

‼️ Students currently enrolled will continue to attend their regular sessions with Coach Kass while I’m away, so there will be no interruption to their time at the farm. ‼️

If you need to reach me, feel free to message me anytime via Facebook or by email at [email protected].

Thank you all for your continued patience and support—we can’t wait to see your children thrive here at the farm!

With gratitude,
Lisa 🌿
