🚫 SLOW DOWN – THIS IS A HOME, NOT A HIGHWAY 🚫

If you are caught driving quickly into our property for any reason — lesson drop-off, pick-up, or otherwise — you will lose your privilege to drive in. You will be required to park on the street and walk in from that point forward.

This is my children’s home. They deserve to ride their little vehicles, play with their dogs, and — most importantly — for Sophia to be safe in her wheelchair and adapted bike. She cannot move out of the way if a vehicle comes speeding in.

Our older students also ride their horses around the property. A speeding car could cost a life — human or animal.

We have zero tolerance for unsafe driving here. Respect our property. Respect our family. Safety comes first — no exceptions.

A Celebration of Life for Cloudy ☁️ 🤍

Friday July 18th 6-8 PM 🌹

Please join us for a heartfelt evening as we honour the life, love, and gentle spirit of our beloved horse, Cloudy.

A fire will be lit and kept burning throughout the evening — a symbol of the warmth and light Cloudy brought to all of us. Sacred medicines will be available for smudging and healing, and a grief counsellor will be present to offer gentle support to anyone in need.

There will be no set schedule — simply time and space to gather, reflect, and remember. Guests are welcome to join our open sharing circle, where stories, memories, and words of love can be offered in community.

Together, we will plant a tree in Cloudy’s honour, creating a living tribute to his presence on this land. Photos of Cloudy will be on display, and special colouring pages will be available for students and guests to decorate and hang in the barn as a forever reminder of his spirit.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Elder Phil for supporting us through Cloudy’s transition to the spirit world and guiding us through his burial ceremony. We are also so grateful to everyone who came to say goodbye that day— it was deeply meaningful to witness so many laying cedar on him for his final rest.

A special thank you to our barn family, whose kindness, love, and grace carried Cloudy through his final moments. Your support will never be forgotten.

Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome as we come together in love, remembrance, and gratitude. ❤️

With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved horse Cloudy has started his journey to the spirit world today.

Cloudy wasn’t just a horse—he was part of our family. He carried nervous first-timers with care, helped heal hearts with his steady presence, and stood proudly beside so many of you through your journeys at the farm. His gentle spirit, kind eyes, and unwavering patience touched every soul who had the honour of knowing him.

This is a tremendous loss for our entire Algonquin Acres community.

We understand how deeply this may affect our students. If any of you need grief support as you navigate this loss, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we are here for you.

As our family takes time to grieve and heal, all programs will be paused for the next week.

We will come together to celebrate Cloudy’s life on Friday, July 18th, 2025, at the farm at 6PM. Everyone is welcome to join us in honouring him with love, stories, and gratitude. Grief support will be available during the celebration for anyone who would like it.

Thank you, Cloudy, for everything. You were truly one of a kind, and we will carry you in our hearts always.

We’re off to a great start this summer at the farm! ☀️🐴

This week we welcomed some new students who finally made it off the waitlist and into the barn — it was so nice to see new faces getting to know our herd! We also had our returning students back to kick off the season, and our show team girls got in some solid practice time. 🐎

A big thank you to the 21 little visitors from Beaverhouse First Nation who came out for a fun visit — we had such a great time hosting you and can’t wait to havee you all back!

What an incredible weekend at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival in Ottawa! 🌞🐴

Our students Kiesha and Sarianna, from Algonquin Acres in Timiskaming First Nation, had an unforgettable opportunity to connect with culture, community, and horses in such a meaningful way.

The event took place at Wesley Clover Parks, a stunning, state-of-the-art horse show facility—where the girls even had the chance to ride in an arena with million-dollar footing and take a hack around the property! An unforgettable experience for any young rider.

They spent the weekend alongside the team from Madahoki Farm, helping to host public visits and even rode the incredible Ojibwe Spirit Ponies—a rare and sacred Indigenous breed known for their strength, resilience, and deep spiritual connection to our ancestors.

Once nearly extinct, these ponies are being lovingly preserved and reintroduced through the efforts of dedicated farms like Madahoki. It was an honour for our students to spend time with them and share their story with the public. 💛

Kiesha also proudly carried the Every Child Matters flag on horseback around the Pow Wow Grounds—an honour she continues to represent with strength, pride, and heart.

Our beloved horse Express took part in an Indian Relay demonstration with members of the JJ Nosimak Relay Team, who travelled all the way from Alberta to share this thrilling tradition with the community. A dream come true for myself to connect with relay riders. ❤️🪶

We were also thrilled to meet the wonderful team from Mountain Stone Equine, who—like us and Madahoki Farm—offer Equine-Assisted Learning programs rooted in healing, horsemanship, and Indigenous culture. The connections made throughout the weekend were deeply inspiring.

As the founder of Algonquin Acres, I was so grateful for this experience—for myself and for our two senior students, who have been with us for nearly four years now. Watching them step into leadership roles with confidence, care, and pride was incredibly special.

A huge thank you to Trina from Madahoki Farm for inviting us and welcoming us with open arms.

The weekend was not only full of horses and culture—it was full of new friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Darlene, as an NBHA and OBRA champion, you bring so much knowledge, skill, and heart to our farm. Your patience, encouragement, and championship-level coaching inspire our students every year — and this weekend was no exception!

We were thrilled to have a full clinic of 15 riders this year and had such a great time welcoming the wonderful group from Mirrored Image Farms to join in the fun! 💛🐎

We are so proud of all the students who worked so hard all weekend, pushing themselves, learning, and growing with every ride.
