Yesterday the Old Perlican Ambulance Service along with a few past members got together to celebrate Paramedic Services Week which took place last week.

To continue with our Paramedic Services Week theme of “Help us, Help you”, we would like to encourage everyone to ensure they have a visible/reflective civic address outside of their home. If your house is within 50’ of the road, having the civic number on the house is acceptable. If your house is more than 50’ from the road or your house is blocked with trees or other obstructions, consider posting a sign like this at the end of your driveway. This allows Paramedics to find your address easier, in the event there is a medical emergency. But also, this can also help us locate your neighbours quicker, to ensure we are heading the right direction. So this initiative could help your family or your neighbours.

Some recommendations for the sign include, having it in reflective colours, 4” high numbers, visible from both directions and close to the road.

This change comes into effect tonight. If you need an ambulance in our service area please call 🚨911🚨 The ambulance dispatch line at AAW will no longer be in service.

Effective February 19, 2024, local citizens who call the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican for an ambulance in a medical emergency are directed to instead call 911.

NL Health Services reminds the public that 911 is available province-wide in Newfoundland and Labrador. Citizens across the province can call 911 for any emergency and be connected to the appropriate emergency response agencies (police, fire, ambulance) anywhere in the province.

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that, effective February 19, 2024, citizens of communities served by the Town of Old Perlican Ambulance Service who have a medical emergency and require an ambulance are directed to call 911.

As of February 19, 2024, individuals who call the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican for an ambulance in a medical emergency, will be directed to hang up and call 911. The local hospital phone number will no longer provide access to ambulance services.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our 2 food drives that we hosted to help our local Salvation Army.

We had an incredible amount of support from our communities & with your help we were able to make a very generous food & monetary donation. This will help many families in our area this season.

We will be joining OPFD’s Pumpkin Patrol again this year starting at 6pm. If you see flashing lights stop us for some treats!
