Would you like to understand more on how Mountain Trail is judged and how to master some of the obstacles? If you are wanting to take a deeper dive into the mountain trail world as we are so lucky to have so many great facilities here in BC that offer shows then this mini clinic is for you !! Cat Armitage is a Judge and Clinician for mountain trail and will be here for a one day clinic in the indoor November 16th from 11-2 , might run a bit longer . Limited spots available .

Please make sure you have a halter with a 10 foot long rope

Cost a 125 per person.

Heads up everyone!!!

Also when attending events or clinics at our farm please try and keep your horse from touching other horses or you touching other peoples horses , don’t use anyone’s bucket for water except your own , if your horse is showing any signs of any illness please stay home !! Thank you !!

Strangles is a highly contagious disease characterized by abscessation of the lymphoid tissue in the upper respiratory tract and it is caused by the bacteria Streptococcus equi equi.

Transmission of the disease occurs by ingestion or inhalation of secretions (from the nose, mouth or abscessing tissue). This can also be transmitted by contaminated equipment/environment.

Clinical signs to monitor for:
🌡️ Fever (temperature over 38.4 Celsius)
💦 Nasal discharge
💤 Lethargy
🩹Swelling under the lower jaw/throatlatch region
💨 May have difficulty breathing or swallowing

Biosecurity:
🧼 Wash hands before and after handling your horses
🛑 Have designated clothes and boots for on-farm work and change before/after going into communal areas (ie. feed stores)
🐎 Limit exposure to other horses outside of your farm, especially if they have an unknown health history
🐴 Quarantine any new horses for 4 weeks prior to herd integration
🪣 Virkon solution for disinfection of potentially contaminated equipment

Vaccination:
💉 Not recommended in potential outbreak scenarios

Randy Ophus is scheduled to arrive on October 12th and 13th to conduct horsemanship and flag training. We are delighted to have a talented and motivated group of riders on board.
