Sparky did wonderfully at the Breed Exhibition today at the Richmond Fair. Today the Cornerbrook Farm team was powered by women! 💪🏻 Thank you to Brigid of Ballyduff Farms for coming and lending a helping hand and her photography skills. Sparky is back to the Richmond Fair tomorrow in the Saddle and Harness ring and on Sunday in the Horse and Pony Show.

Come say ‘Hi’ 👋🏻 and support our local rural communities who put a ton of time and effort into making these events happen!

Our fair season has been a busy one. We are on our final stretch of 10 shows in 5 weeks! Our final stops will be 3 days at Richmond Fair and 2 days at Carp fair next weekend.

Guess what time it is!!??

Apple cider time!

This year we are working on some different filtration techniques. It’s a fine balance not taking too much sediment vs not enough as that pulp is what gives the cider that little extra flavour.

We made 18L on pur first round with a wine filter we were trialing. It’s good but a bit too polished. Back to the drawing board!

People often complain about getting compost from farmers and it being full of w**ds.

Here’s the tail end of one of our compost piles that was finished composting last fall… it sat here all summer. That’s how many w**ds it grew.

Aerobically composting is superior for w**d suppression 👌🏻

One could say our 💩 doesn’t stink or grow w**ds 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think it’s been a crazy first week of September for most. Take a minute to take a break and watch Hank enjoy one of his favourite treats. Cucumber!!! He is our official cucumber composter for all our overripe cucumbers from the garden. Thanks for all your hard work Hank! 🤭

Farming is multitasking.

Did you know this weekend we…

- Completed our final cut of hay
- Processed 650 garlic plants
- Did horse show prep and competed at a full day horse show
- Did all our usual routine farm duties

Yep… all that in 72 hours. Farming does not wait for it to be convenient. It also does not wait for you to catch up.
