We wish all our friends luck in filling their freezers during the various lawful hunting seasons.

However, our local deer do love finding refuge in our hay fields ❤️

As always, we take pride in living in harmony with these guys without interaction.

Ballyduff Farms did an amazing job yesterday getting our ditches and overgrown area under control! A few areas have been let grow wild for over 40 years and have choked out many larger trees. We are so excited to be able to reclaim the land and plant some of our favourite native trees ❤️ Thanks Oli! It’s always a pleasure doing business.

Many people say that farmers don’t care about their animals. The animals are there to produce and make a Cheque.

Today is one of those days where I can prove you wrong. This morning I found Sassy, our final ‘original’ chicken and one I had vowed could live her best life without a band on her leg, looking very mildly off in behaviour. This is usually enough for one of our chickens to get pulled and have a full assessment in the barn. Turns out it was very likely she had a broken egg inside of her. There was nothing we could do but provide her dignity. We had decided that we wanted to bury her and provide her a medically assisted end at our beloved avian vet, Almonte Veterinary Services. When I say, we as food producers care, I will honestly tell you how I have never cried so much over a chicken. 💔 The goal on the farm with raising food producing animals has always been 1 bad day on the farm and when things go wrong like today, 1 hour too soon is better than a minute too late.

We let Miss. Sassy Pants, the matriarch of our flock, go today. She still had s***k, she ate her favourite snacks and she had a final morning out of the frosty pasture in the living room bay window having a good sun nap until we got the call from the vet. We thank her for putting this crack in our hearts today to remind us that we chose the right path. Without this heartache would mean we did not put her first.

We wish you safe passage over Rainbow Bridge our Sassy Pants. Until next time ❤️

As the sun sets and the biggest moon of the year rises, the big pack of coyotes across from the farm are greeting Mr.Moon with chants of excitement.

On the farm you learn to be thankful for the little things. From the tiniest bacteria that creates healthy soil to the 1200lbs monsterous Hank and all the way back to the warm and fuzzies you get while blowing a fluffy dandelion.

This weekend we officially tucked the garden in with 6-8” of compost and removed all of the summer plants. I always have a ritual where I say thank you to every plant I pull from the garden in the fall. Whether we had good weather, bad weather, good growing or bad growing… They always give it all they can to make a bountiful garden. For that, we are always thankful ❤️

We hope everyone was able to spend some time reflecting on life this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving

Woowee!! 🌬️🍃⚡️ That was an interesting night. Here we thought Mother Nature was finally being kind and giving us a beautiful light show with the auroras the night before to end off a crazy summer.
🫠 In perfect Mother Nature style she said ‘Just joking!’ Wind, Thunderstorms, power outages. It was a night and everyone is a little tired. Blossom says that today is a suntanning day from the stall doorway kinda day. ❤️

Sometimes it takes a moment to realize the gesture is not ‘I’m going to eat you’ and instead ‘I love you’ 🥰
