babies got to try our weekly mix!

every week we make a fresh mix and every cage gets some! 😋

this week we have eggs, egg shell, fresh basil and lemon balm, chia seeds, strawberries, cucumber and cooked pasta noodles tossed in a little bit of salmon oil and freeze dried liver dust.

seems like this week is a hit all around. 🥰

do you know how easy it is to feed your rats fresh food?

anytime i prep a fruit or veggie, they get the scraps! celery ends, strawberry tops, carrot ends and broccoli stems..all stuff you would normally throw away, right?

with rats it's like having an in-house compost machine.

cooked bones? having a wing night? give them the bones! rats looovee gnawing on bones. it's great for their teeth, stimulation of chewing is a natural and healthy behavior. the oils from the meat are healthy fats and wonderful for their coat & skin. not to mention they taste great! (*note: make sure sauces and spices you are using in your meat is rat safe! no hot sauces!)

i think everyone has made too much pasta. share some with your rats!

it's really that simple. feeding a healthy, balanced diet is the key to a successful, long life with our furry friends. we don't get long enough with them to begin with, any way we can better their life, we should!

Mystic & Bumblebee's litter is growing quickly as well!

We have 4 girls and 5 boys. They are all black and mink except for the little cream coloured girl, who I think may be himi? Always interesting when an unknown gene pops up. ☺️

This litter will be the litter you all want to jump on. Although they are 'plain' and not flashy, this pairing was created strictly for temperament. I expect these babies to blow my mind. 🤍

𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 is absolutely 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴!

nellie & dragon did a phenomenal job at giving us some beautiful babies, and nellie is blowing motherhood out of the park. these babies are 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 chonky and clean.

i already have my eye on a couple handsome fellows. let's hope temperament is on point and some dragon-eye shows up! 🤞

5 of these handsome boys will be available for adoption.

he is absolutely phenomenal in coat, Structure and temperment. i am excited for gen 3 of the snowflakes produced here at cloverfield. if they are anything like this boy, ya'll are in for a treat! ❄️

Dragon honestly said 'copy & paste' with this little boy. 🥹 looks exactly like his daddy, with the temperment to match (so far).

Dragon is by far one of my sweetest bucks and I was so excited for him to sire his first litter. My excitement was absolutely valid, because every baby from this litter is just a huge squish.

Whoever scoops up a marten baby (or two!) from this litter, is going to absolutely obsessed.

It's also extremely dangerous...

It makes my holdback choices that much harder! 😒😂

Kirby decided that she would name her litter for us, by gifting us with 12 healthy jellybeans on Easter! 🐰🤍

Welcome to 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳!

This litter will be heavy martens (if not all) and will not be available for reservation until around 6 weeks.

This pairing was chosen to see if dragon eye acts like a dominate gene. As all 3 of my dragon eyed rats came from two parents that did not express the gene.

Kirby is marten, Dragon is black marten, dragon eyed.

The next step is to double the gene.

Dragon will be siring another litter with either Nellie or Nagini, to see if having two dragon eyed parents affects offspring and expression rate.

I'm very excited to see where this project takes us, as there is not a lot of information on dragon eye. There was one other rattery that I know of that focused on it, and unfortunately they have closed.

Let's see where this journey takes us!
