Best part is his little human brother waiting for him who has already been caring for his golden retriever stuffy, which he gave a blue collar to, in prepping for Gord’s homecoming!

Headstrong’s Mischief n’ Mayhem “Daisy” headed home today to a family full of love and activities! From hunting and fishing, to hanging out at rugby practice, to visits to the horse barn, to playing in the stream there will be no shortage of activity for this active girl.
With 4 teenagers/young adults 🧑 👧👧👧in the household we are confident she will always have someone to do activities with!

Headstrong’s Senator Organa “Leia” headed home this morning!
Leia (aka pink collar) is going to live a golden retriever dream with summers spent at the cottage on the lake!
When not at the cottage she will be spending time with her paw 🐾 family including and “uncle”, “aunt” and “cousin”.

Headstrong Theodore “Theo” headed home yesterday to be spoiled rotten!
Theo’s (aka Red Collar) “mom” has been waiting for Theo for almost a year and we couldn’t be happier about this matching!
If you’re local to the area, you may run into Theo at Puppy Classes at Quinte Canine where his “mom” all ready has him signed up to be the best pup he can be!

Headstrong’s County Raised “Levi” headed home yesterday!
Levi (aka White Collar) is the only pup of this litter staying in the County and we couldn’t be happier. 🤩
Levi will be joining her new paw 🐾 brother who recently lost his doggie bestie. We are sure she will keep him occupied and get him back to feeling like a doggy! 🐶
Headstrong’s Sleepy Princess “Riley” was was first of the Callie x Roscoe litter to leave the farm.
Miss Riley headed home yesterday to meet her new crew!
She truly is the princess 👑 in a house full of big brother doggies! 🐶
From all reports, just 24 hours in she already has them all wrapped around her little paws 🐾, including big brother Declan, the Cane Corso.

These pics were from the weekend… we are a bit behind!
This past week the puppies went through their temperament testing.
The temperament testing helps us best place puppies with families based on lifestyle, household composition, other dogs in the household, desired activities, etc!
The puppies all “passed” with flying colours. We expect them to be energetic with high trainability! Just as expected.
All families have been notified of the puppy they will be receiving and now the fun part of picking registered and call names begins!

That's right, the puppies 🐾 are now 5 weeks old.
Wow🤩, a lot has changed this week! They are very vocal, playful and adventurous🤪! They are doing a lot of group play, and pair off to explore together!
They love playing with big 1/2 sister Opie (Maze x Roscoe litter).
Momma 🦮 still keeps a very watchful eye but doesn't spend too much time in with the puppies now as they swarm and overwhelm her,... time to bring out the onesie so she can spend time with them without being hounded for the milk bar!

Hard to believe the puppies are now on their way to being 5 weeks old! So many changes in even the past few days.
Momma Callie now watches the puppies mainly from outside the pen, and pops in frequently to clean up and feed... but now that the puppies have started on puppy mush, she will soon stop the majority of the clean up (hence the introduction of the potty box and puppy pads.
The puppies have increased motor abilities, they wander more widely and are engaging in longer periods of play with their siblings.

Hello handsome 🤩. New bull 🐂 calf yesterday morning !
This strong boy is a highland x Hereford cross from some of the first cows on our farm. Momma raises strong boys (this is her third bull calf :))
It’s not all about the puppies around here. lol.
PUPPY 🐶 MUSH! The puppies had their first taste 👅 of puppy mush today!
We start the puppies on puppy mush (aka kibble soaked in boiling water, then blended with goat milk) at 3.5 weeks old.
Over the next 2 1/2 weeks, we will slowly make the consistency thicker and remove the goat milk, until the puppies are completely on kibble at around the six week mark.
All the puppies loved their first taste, however, Little Miss Yellow 💛, thought that the puppy mush was the best thing ever!!
THE PRIMARY SOCIALIZATION PERIOD. The golden retriever puppies are three weeks old today!
The puppies are now entering into the primary socialization period which begins at week 3 and ends at week 5 .
This is a senisitive period for building positive relationships.
This can be considered to be the most influential stage in a puppy's life relative to social behavior patterns and learning.
The puppies will experience a rapid increase in the amount of social and environmental stimulation they receive during this period.
At this age, puppies show a willingness to
approach and interact with people, which should
be rewarded, to help prevent fearfulness of
humans as the puppy grows up. At this stage
puppies also learn many important behaviors from
littermates and the dam, such as social cues, fear-
learning, bite inhibition, social hierarchies, and
urination/defecation preferences.

❤️Mr. Red - the lightest coloured of the crew. Current weight 4lbs 7.3 ounces.
🧡Ms. Orange - the first of the crew to open her eyes 👀. Current weight 4lbs 7.3 ounces.
💜Ms. Purple - the first of the crew to take some wobbly steps (not so wobbly now!). Current weight 4lbs 13.2 ounces.
🤍Ms. White - the I’ll take my time arriving puppy 🐶! Current weight 4lbs 11.1 ounces.
🩷Ms. Pink - the first 🥇of the crew to arrive. Current weight 4lbs 1.6 ounces.
💛Ms. Yellow - the reddest of the crew. Current weight 4lbs 4.4 ounces.

The TRANSITIONAL period… The puppies are now entering the transition period of the early development stage.
The transitional stage starts at 12 days old and goes to 21 days old.
During this stage, they start regulating their own body temperature 🤒 (up until this point they rely on mom, and a heat lamp to stay warm), their eyes 👀 are opening (most are open now or open but still “glazed” over), and beginning to react to sound👂.
Did you know that along with not having their eyes open, puppies don’t hear for the first two weeks?
Find the puppy! 🐶 this is Mr. Blue’s favourite sleeping 💤 spot… not sure he is going to fit there in a few days…. Will soon be time to remove the bumpers. These golden retriever puppies are growing like weeds!
Happy 1st day of March. What a beautiful morning on the farm this morning! Sun is shining, birds are chirping, and the animals are all happy!

First our Highland Bull Grandslam surveying the surroundings, our first calf of the year (now a month old) having a big stretch after her snooze, Callie looking regal as every, Maze with a toy in her mouth (no surprise there!) and Trixie checking out what’s going on over at the barn!
Mom is never far from her pups 🐶!
A week in and Callie still doesn’t let the pups far out of her sight!
Over the past few days she has started coming out to do farm chores with us but normally only lasts 15 mins or so before she wants back in the house to be with her pups. She does take naps outside the box now occasionally but never very far away!
Well.. we have a 2 pounder! When I posted yesterday asking for your guesses I didn’t anticipate it would be TODAY, and especially not at this MORNINGS weigh in!
And the winner is… Mr. Blue!
All are gaining fantastically. Kudos to momma Callie for feeding like a champ!
The last pics are of the puppies in their basket (after we weigh them we put them in the basket to clean the pen, etc.) Check out the difference from day 1 to day 5!! The last photo is day 1, when they filled about 1/3 of the basket, second last pic is day 5 where they pretty much fill the basket!
Everyone was sleeping 💤 on the job this morning! You may ask, why weigh the puppies?
Ensuring the well-being of our golden retriever puppies is our top priority!
We weigh them twice a day for the first 10 days - 2 weeks to closely monitor their growth and health. This allows us to make sure no one is falling behind (sometimes just a result of being the smallest and not getting to the teat first!) Or, for more serious health issues.
Weight gain, consistently, is the key indicator of these puppies health in the first few weeks of life.
It’s a crucial step in responsible breeding, ensuring each little one gets the best start in life. 🐾

You all know we are golden retriever 🦮 obsessed and this match between field bred Roscoe and ultimate every day companion Callie is a beautiful balance of active family dog and true golden retriever willingness to please.
