Dec 6...3.45pm - Gt Pyrenees and a puppy Pyr, dropped off at the kennel from Chisholm Township and impounded . Dec 6, 4.30 pm - both dogs been picked up and gone home.

Dec 3. Black, short coated, female, possibly 45 lbs, young, just arrived at the "pound". Found on Groulx Rd., East Ferris..

If it's yours or you know who she belongs .to., she's now at the North Bay Humane Society. (They cover East Ferris Animal control).

Oct 7/23. Black medium sized dog, white on toes, found near Waltonian Inn. Collar, but no ID.

Sept 26. Smaller medium sized brown dog, has a collar on, but no ID., found at north end of Powassan on Hwy 11.

Can be claimed/picked up by appointment only. 705-724-2676.

Both were unclaimed and have been adopted.

Two dogs from Chisholm township came in this afternoon - Husky and a Lab. The Husky was 'chipped, so both dogs were back home - within the hour!.

With all the smoke from the wild fires in PQ htting much of NE Ontario, remember that your pets are feeling the effects too. Some signs that your dog is reacting to inhaling too much smoke include: (from the AKC) :

Coughing
Trouble breathing
Wheezing or loud breathing
Fatigue or disorientation
Reduced appetite
Reduced thirst
Red eyes, excessive tearing or blinking, or pawing at eyes (indicate cornea trauma)

When it's hot...if you can't walk barefoot on the sidewalk. THINK OF YOUR DOG'S PAWS. They hace 4 feet and the paved areas are just as hot to them as it is to us. Make sure they have access to cold water at home, and take a bottle with you in case they need some on a walk.

UPDATE: Owner has been located. Turns out to be a dog we had in boarding in June and we recognized her.....and tracked down her owner.......
Aug 13/22. Black, female, Cane Corso type dog....found on Stillar Side rd, Nipissing. Now impounded and waiting for owner (or friends of) to call and identify her and arrange pick up. Kennels are closed from 6pm to 9am.. Pictured in "share" above....

All 3 dogs picked up and impounded yesterday afternoon/evening have been claimed by their owners and gone home....2 from Nipissing Twp and one from Chisholm Twp.

Aug 5..9pm. Two dogs picked up on Hwy 654 near Hazelglen Rd., Nipissing twp. Black Shepherd type and cream coloured possible Labrador cross.

UPDATE: "Floyd" has been claimed and gone home.

July 28: A light tan dog, looks like a yellow Labrador mix, impounded. Found west of Powassan on Hwy 534 near Wolfe Lake Rd. Tues, June 28. English bulldog picked up and impounded - south end of Powassan. No collar/tags. Owner: please call and arrange to pick up tomorrow (Wed)....Kennels are now closed for the night. 705 724 2676. (Answering machine is on 24/7.
