Hey cat friends!

One thing that helps small businesses grow is word of mouth. But sometimes a person seeks out the service and comes across the Google reviews on their own.

Google reviews matter! Make sure you lift up small businesses in Alberta by giving them a review!

*note* if you were extremely unhappy with the service, it's better to contact me directly. I appreciate constructive criticism and in the past, I have made adjustments to the business accordingly! Maybe my adjustments result in you giving a more positive review later on.

Expecting a package or two, but you won't be there to pick it up? Lucky for you I happen to be checking on your cats! I have hauled many packages, large and small, into homes.

I just hope the delivery people start making better decisions. This should have been left behind the little nook. Porch piracy has been running rampant this year.

Hi Cat friends!

This sure is looking like a great month for MeowCheck. With a mix of repeat clients as well as some really great first timers, I can never thank you all enough for your continued support. Remember to share posts like this with your cat friends! That's the best way for small local businesses to thrive.

Now, why is this cat holding a clipboard? Often when I come to a home to perform a MeowCheck, you'll see me with a clipboard. I couldn't think of any other reason to use this image.. haha. It got your attention though, didn't it?

Just a reminder that as of January 1st 2025, I am increasing the rates across the board by $1 per day. While this doesn't really affect the pocketbook of someone booking 10 visits, it'll definitely go a long way for this small business to keep the lights on at my OWN home!

This is a post about a Post-It note.

In your own home, you know exactly where everything is located. But what about the MeowCheck guy? Does HE know your home like you do? If you're a newer client, probably not!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Isn't sticking Post-It notes everywhere kind of condescending? It's not! I HIGHLY appreciate it.

Post-It notes are a fantastic way to make my visits to your home as efficient as possible! I've had a few clients do this, and it's awesome.

Why choose MeowCheck instead of boarding your cats?

If you have more than one cat, you will notice a huge difference in savings! The price per day to board two or more cats in Red Deer varies wildly (I don’t know why) depending on where you board them, but one thing doesn’t change regardless of your personal household cat population - the daily rate for MeowCheck!

Additionally, your homeowners/renters insurance will remain intact in the unlikely event that you end up with a claim (basement flood, hot water tank fails, property damage from wind storm, etc).

At $22 per day for a half hour visit or $24.50 per day for two 15-minute visits (Red Deer/Blackfalds)(extra charge applies to Lacombe/Sylvan Lake/Innisfail clients), I will make sure your cats are being cared for in your own home.

And if your cat is very low maintenance, you can save even more by booking every other day for a visit! I believe someone once referred to it as “a la carte” in the sense that you can pick and choose the days within a span of a calendar month.

Hi cat friends!

Well now, wasn’t that an amazing summer? Who here let their lawn die to avoid cutting it? Being an adult is fun.

I have a quick announcement, but first…

MeowCheck saw really good growth this year, particularly in the past few months. There were some more growing pains, and definitely some policy changes. I think that’s pretty normal for a business built from scratch (see what I did there?).

First off, I want to thank everyone who has found MeowCheck and used the service, and I DEFINITELY want to thank those who kept calling every time they needed the service. In the business world, when you can draw in repeat business, you are winning. And I feel like the sky's the limit with this side of the business. It all starts with you!

Now to the quick announcement.

Many of you have asked for a price list. While that can get complicated, given the logistics of the service, I have published a simple guide for those who need it! The link will be shared in the comments section below.

One thing you don’t have to worry about is calendar availability. Unlike boarding, MeowCheck brings me to your home, so as long as there are hours in the day, I can be there. Of course, if enough of you book a specific block of days, I have experienced help who can fill in the gaps!

Don’t forget to tell all your traveling cat friends about MeowCheck. The busier it gets, the more likely I can continue to provide the service!

So it’s April 1st, and a lot of what’s being posted on social media today is probably bunk. I actually hate April Fools Day in modern times, because I feel like we live it every day of the year now.

What I WON’T do is prank you with some sort of, “MeowCheck has opened an office in Iceland!” or “MeowCheck has secured a contract with the CEO of Telus!”

What I WILL do is have a little fun at my own expense.

The following are some rejected MeowCheck slogans:

- MeowCheck: Now 99% arson-free!
- MeowCheck: We’ll leave all the toilet seats up just for fun.

Does your furnace have a humidifier built in? Mine does. Well, it did until early last week. I didn't MeowCheck my own furnace room for a few days, and came downstairs to a bit of a water problem. Stupid thing decided to humidify the floor. Now it's a vertically-installed paper weight (I disconnected it).

Don't worry, I do check YOURS!

You've heard the phrase, "is your refrigerator running?"

I make sure that it is.

BUT.....

Is your TOILET running?

I make sure it isn't.

Ok, I'll elaborate... SOMETIMES a toilet experiences a small failure to seal within the tank, and the result is a constant cycling of the water.

I listen for that, and if need be, I turn off the valve to stop it. I'm not a licensed plumber, so I'm not going to fuss with your toilet and potentially make it worse!

Hi cat friends!

Who is checking on your cats when you’re away for a couple days or more? A friend? Neighbour? Young relative? Have they ever let you down? I don’t mean they missed a day or two (I understand - life happens and they’ll tell you it’s not their job), I mean they only came two or three times in 15 days. I’ve heard the horror stories many times. Do you have one?

Hi cat friends!

I’ve met hundreds and hundreds of cats over the past 8 years. I refuse to say I’ve seen it all though. But I can say there are some special circumstances that come into play. I know. I have had to turn people away over the years because their cat didn’t meet kennel insurance standards.

Maybe your cat’s shots aren’t up to date. Maybe it’s due to a medical or age-related reason, or possibly something else. Maybe they’re not fixed. Maybe they react poorly to car rides or the mere presence of other cats, and they get stressed. I cannot judge. The fact that you have a cat is always a good start.
