�Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society (HLH) is a non-profit animal rescue founded in 2012. We are committed to rescuing stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats from Alberta urban and rural areas, including First Nations surrounding Edmonton and Red Deer, to then place them in permanent homes. HLH created a spay/neuter initiative program within the commu

nities we work with to help curb the overpopulation of unwanted dogs and cats. Our organization works with field volunteers in several rural communities across Alberta to rescue dogs and cats in need. Unfortunately, for every dog we save, there are at-least 10 more requiring immediate rescue, and in the case of cats, at least 30 more requiring rescue - without foster space we cannot rescue them. Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society received their Certificate of Incorporation on November 30, 2012 and became recognized as a Registered Charity. We do our best to keep our operating costs low, allowing us to assist more animals. Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society relies entirely on the generosity, skills, and compassion of a volunteer network in order to: �
Provide foster care, socialization, and basic training to prepare the foster animal for adoption
�Administer medical assistance to the foster animal
�Coordinate the adoption of the foster animal through a matching process of the animal’s needs to lifestyles and personalities of the adopters
Respond to calls for animals in need by traveling to urban and rural locations to perform rescues
�Provide food to field volunteers for the animals who cannot yet be rescued
�Prepare and delivery outreach programs and initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership
Raise funds to support HLH activities; and �
Build awareness about Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society and our cause. �

Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society does not operate out of a facility; instead, we rely on a network of foster homes who open their homes and hearts to rescued animals until a permanent home is found. Supplies such as leashes, collars, toys, dishes, food, litter, treats, and kennels are provided to our foster homes. A loving, safe and lifelong home is the goal in Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society's rehoming efforts; therefore, a multi-step adoption process is followed to ensure the best match possible between the needs of the animal and the lifestyle of the potential adopters. Many of HLH adoptable animals have been rescued from harsh situation; therefore, they are adopted out as companion animals to be loved and protected for the rest of their lives. The time we take in processing adoptions and careful vetting of each potential adoptive home is a core philosophy of our organization.

Looking for a foster hero! 🌟

We need a loving temporary home for a mom dog and her adorable puppies for about 4 + weeks! 🐾 The puppies are approx. 4 weeks old now, so they'll need to stay with their mom until they're at least 8 weeks old! ❤

This temporary space will help them get ready for their future fosters and eventually their forever homes! If you have a spare bedroom, basement, or warm garage this could be the perfect fit! 🏡

Once we’re able to move the puppies into individual fosters, it would be fantastic if you’d be open to continuing to foster one or two of them as they grow and prepare for their forever homes! 💖

Description:
Minnie, named for being the runt of her litter, is now growing into a strong and independent puppy! While she's not quite "Mini" anymore, she still carries that sweet, small-dog spirit. Minnie is a confident in her kennel and while she enjoys being in her crate, she is still working on perfecting her house training. She is very responsive to her name and can sit on command, though we're currently working on teaching her to lay down. Minnie isn't fond of being picked up, so a home without young children would be best. However, older, calm children who can respect her space would be a great fit.

Minnie enjoys socializing with other dogs, but like most pups, she would benefit from a gentle introduction. While she hasn't been tested with cats, she’s generally calm and may adapt well to them.

Ideal Home:
Minnie would thrive in a quiet household with owners who are patient and can continue her training journey. She’s a low-maintenance pup in terms of crate time but will need a home where she can grow and learn at her own pace. An environment with older children or an adult-focused home would be perfect, especially one where she can get the love and attention she deserves without feeling overwhelmed.

About Mac:
Mac is a bundle of energy and joy! At just 11 weeks old, he’s full of curiosity and love. Mac is incredibly food-motivated, which makes training a fun challenge. He currently lives with two dogs, one large and one small, and is learning his boundaries with them. He’s also surrounded by 4 kids, and though he goes through typical puppy biting phases, he’s easy to redirect with food or toys.

Mac knows how to sit and responds well to his name, and we’re working on teaching him how to lay down and not jump up. He loves being around people and is the ultimate companion—he’ll follow you everywhere you go and will make sure you're never alone. When he’s ready for a nap, he’s the most cuddly little guy, and nothing beats a cozy cuddle session with him.

Training Progress:

Working on crate training (he’s not fond of confinement yet, but he’s learning to associate the crate with treats and meals)
Potty training is in progress (he runs to the door when he needs to go outside but needs someone quick to catch him in the act)
Learning basic commands (sit, come, working on lay down)
Loves food, so he’s highly trainable with the right motivation
Ideal Home:
Mac would thrive in a home with someone who is patient and willing to continue his training and socialization. He loves to be near his people, so he would do best sleeping in a bedroom where he can be close to you. A family with other pets (dogs, especially) would be a great fit, as long as they are introduced properly. He will also do well with kids, as long as they’re prepared for his playful puppy nips.

Mac is a sweet, playful boy who will grow into a loving, loyal companion with a little patience and guidance. If you're looking for a fun-loving puppy to bring into your family, Mac might just be the perfect match!

Happy Monday Supporters!! With Valentine’s Day on the horizon we’re posting to see if anyone can help show some love to one of our handsome boys Archie. Archie has been having breathing issues since he was young. Archie is still a young pup and very active which in turn makes him breathe the way you hear on this video. He’s had multiple vet visits to try and figure out how we can help him. He was referred to a specialist and is now back there again and has to have a $700 procedure 😓 We are determined to find out what’s causing this but it’s been a huge drain on our funds and is sadly taking away funds to help other animals in need as well. This is where we are praying some of our village of supporters can share some love this Valentine’s week and help us towards Archie’s vet bills ❤️ any amount will help $5, $10 and so on. Update: Foster pending! Urgent Foster Needed for Mushu! Mushu has had a heartbreaking journey. Lost or abandoned over a year ago, he has endured harsh winters, surviving against all odds. During the last cold snap, he was heard crying under a deck—too afraid to approach but desperate for help. Thanks to a kind homeowner and Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue, Mushu was safely trapped just two nights ago. We quickly discovered that his entire body was so matted and frozen that he could barely walk. He wouldn’t have survived much longer. Despite everything he has been through, Mushu is incredibly friendly and loving. He needs a compassionate foster to help him heal. He will require a full shave and time to regain his health, but with love and care, he will become the happy, healthy boy he deserves to be.
