Know your breed! Before picking your new puppy see what fits your life and how you can fit your DOGS life! Not every dog is for every family! Do your research before picking. HEELERS are bearding dogs and we’re bred to nip at cattles heels… this is her instinct, they are nips not full on biting and doesn’t hurt. These types of breeds need a lot of physical activity and mental stimulation. IF YOU DON’T DO YOUR RESEARCH be prepared for a rough go! #dogbreeds #cattledog #heelers #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #dogsincanada #toronto #newmarketontario

So it’s been a few weeks since I got this and just wanted to share.
After receiving this I liked it so much I also grabbed a 6” matching lead from them as well.
To start off, no I am not sponsored by them.
A great thing about this is that it’s 1.5 inches and now people don’t call her a boy 50 times before I can correct them🤷🏼♂️. Also easier for others to associate that with her name on it
A big thing when we are working in and out of the public is that now when people see her with the collar, the colour and the name being on it I find they are more friendly about her doing her job.
But this was a gift and a great one at that!
I can’t say enough about this collar, she’s comfortable in it, it looks amazing, it’s strong and it has a place to grab on the collar as well. For some people that may not be a big thing but for us that is HUGE!
The grab collar will come in handy when she’s working chasing geese. She gets really excited before she goes and sometimes needs a little hold.
Best collar I’ve ever had for a dog yet. If you like this then you will love their stuff! Check them out! Alpine Dog Co. #caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #caninenorthgeesecontrol #blueheeler #toronto
So you’ve never seen geese in the winter eh? How about these ones that will terrorize your course come spring? #caninenorth #caninenorthgeesecontrol #caninenorthdogtraining #geese #gooser #geese #ponds #golf #golfcanada #blueheeler #boardercollie #austrailiancattledog #winter #spring prep
WHEN IS IT TOO COLD?
There’s never a “set” temperature but you need to understand common sense and your dog (breed). Do you have a short haired dog and how big? Is it a Doberman? Greyhound? Chihuahua? If so they need a coat and you need to limit time outside in cold weather and in extreme cold don’t even bother besides pee break!
ALWAYS, think of your dog and their needs with extreme weather first! Today was -11 feels like -19 with the wind! My personal dog loves the cold and around the block was enough🚨
If you don’t think of your dog first in these times you could end up with a sick dog, huge vet bills and even worse. No one wants that for any dog, so be kind and think!
Don’t forget to comment, like and share🎄

Is there a proper way to play with you dog?
The east answer is No, there is no standard.
But there are many ways each dog needs an outlet for their energy. It doesn’t always consist of being physical either. If you have a high energy dog then you need to do more! MORE games, MORE mental stimulation and MORE play time to be genera about it.
All dogs are different but generally you can play more rough with your dog than you think. YOU know your dog better than anyone so don’t be afraid of getting out of your comfort zone and putting them outside of that box as well. This helps them be more confident and seeing new situations works not only their brain but also can build your bond to be stronger💪🏻
So get out there and try new things!🔥 #caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #torontolife #dogsofinstagram #dogsoftoronto #playtime #dobie #dobermanpinscher #doberman #vinnie #mentalstimulation #run #roughhouse
🚨But geese migrate we will be fine…Not all geese migrate, some seasons they do and some they don’t. Don’t be the course that gets stuck with geese in the winter or end of season! You don’t stay in top of them they will stay it show up even worse next season!#caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #torontolife #dogsofinstagram #dogsinthe6ix #dogsoftoronto #geese #seasonend #chasinggeese #gooser #blueheeler #australiancattledog #ACD #water #ponds
As the season ends for chasing geese, they are still out there! Some geese don’t migrate, some only do when they have to… with winter approaching and it being the first season we are at this course I hope they migrate soon. We can then reset for the beginning of next season and get things going on a clean slate where most will return. But we will be ready for them🔥 #caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #chasinggeese #ACD #cattledog #workingdog #seasonend #sznend #golf #golfcourses #ponds #water #vaughan #maple #torontolife
Figure 8’s are a great way to teach your dog to listen and pay attention! If your dog is having issues paying attention to you on walks, always crossing you up and doing whatever they want, then try this… never pull the leash, always pop it to get their attention. #caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #toronto #dogtrainer #dogsofinstagram #blueheeler #listen #walking #pop #changeofdirection
LEARNING to walk in heel. There are many different ways to start and food/heel luring is one. From standing still luring to walking and having them understand to be at your heels. Some dogs understand and get it faster. Others not so much. The hardest dog to teach heel is an “out front” dog. One that has to be out front regardless, with dogs like these you need to give a little leeway and understand it will be much harder for them to follow at your heels. But always;1. Have an invisible line ahead of you where they can not pass.2. This line can be 1ft or 3ft ahead of you depending what you want.3. Understand what kind of dog you have and are training.Just like humans all dogs are different, learn different and have all kinds of preferences. BE PATIENT and BE KIND during a frustrating and sometimes long process!•••••••••#caninenorth #caninenorthdogtraining #educate #breedtype #lifestyle #patience #educate #educateyourself #smartchoices #heel #dogtrainer #toronto #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmonth #dogsinthe6ix #doglove #dogsofinstagram #canadabarks #ilovedogs #instadog #dogsofcanada #dogsoftoronto #happydog #pawsofinstagram #torontobarks #ontariobarks #YorkRegion #toronto #aurora
Always start training your dog on a leash when first training the command “come”. This helps with:
1. Control / Managing your dog
2. Encouraging them to come
3. Better focus
There’s a lot of different ways to teach come but I find this is the best way for most dogs. Only say COME once maybe twice (the goal is always once) and then encourage them by a slight pop of the leash, followed by a yes quickly after to hold their attention and get them excited and happy to come to you. This is best trained and practiced with treats! And with everything in training your dog it’s repetition after rep until the get it and consistently do it. Then you can slowly work your way out to a longer leash and go from there.
