Welcome to The Cruising Pooch! It’s taken me a bit to come up with my very first post but I’ve gotta start somewhere right?! 😊

The creation of The Cruising Pooch has come about in a not so unique way- I have 10+ years of experience working as a veterinary assistant and technician across Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley, as well as a lifetime of experience dealing with various pets, farm animals and wildlife. Over the last 2 years I have moved to a Remote position with Pet insurance and Microchipping and am really missing the hands on part of my passion. 🐾

📍I am newer to the Rockland area and have decided to come out of my shell - so to speak. I am always looking for new ways to interact with pets and pet parents, and to connect with the community!

I am offering in (your) home 🏡veterinary assistant services including but not limited to: Nail trims, ear cleanings, sanitary trims, assistance with administering medications both injectables and oral as well as assistance with SQ fluids

I wanted to to share some of the basic services I offer:

Nail trims:
Cats: $15.00-$20.00
Rabbits and other smaller critters: $10.00-$25.00
Dogs: $20.00-$25.00
Sanitary trims: starting at $35.00
Ear cleaning: starting at $15.00
Oral medication administration: $10.00
Injectable Medication administration: $20.00
SQ Fluid administration: $25.00
- all medications and fluids MUST BE PRESCRIBED BY YOUR VETERINARIAN as I will only follow veterinary instruction regarding administration.

Difficulty level of tasks depend on individual temperament of each pet. For this reason very easy nail trims and those who book regularly/ multiple pets will receive discounts 😊

Some facts about me:

✅ I love dogs and really all animals!
✅ I want to continue finding new ways to work with animals and the community.
✅ I have the inherent need to feel like I am being helpful. Especially when it comes to the care of domestic pets and wildlife!
✅ I grew up on a farm and am familiar working with a variety of species and needs from birds, to horses, to reptiles 🦎🦜
✅ I have been grooming my own pets and family pets for over 10 years. Poodles are my favourite breed to groom and I was taught by an amazing and passionate groomer!
✅ I strongly believe In the human animal bond 🫶
✅ I am Fear free certified ✔️ and try my best to make my visits as stress free as possible for not only your pets but also you! If I have to give your pet a break and come back to finish that’s okay with me!
✅ I am willing to provide inhome drop ins for familiar clients who are traveling or needing assistance caring for a pet while they are away. Also willing to discuss dog walking if required
✅ Can provide assistance with bandage changes, minor wound care, injections, medications and SQ fluid administration.

I am also able and willing to provide assistance with safe removal and transportation to familiar rehab facilities for *some* injured wildlife. - no I can not put a moose inside my car, but yes have transported some escaped baby piglets, a massive stinky snapping turtle, a fox, a couple baby skunks, a barn owl and a couple other bird species, 2 peacocks, a few turkeys and a baby ostrage before 😂

On Another note;
Most pets do not have their nails trimmed regularly for various reasons including but not limited to:

* Bad Weather ☔️
* Busy schedules 📅
* Vehicles causing stress on pets or even lack of vehicle 🚗
* Regular nail trims can be time consuming and expensive 💰
* Sometimes you don’t have enough hands to do it alone 🫴
* Being too nervous of cutting the quick. 🩸
* Disabilities or Age 🩼👵🏽👴🏾

So I thought, why not use my years of skills, knowledge, passion and love for animals to provide these and other custom pet services to the community while building relationships with likeminded pet lovers and pet parents?

I would love to start off slow and build bonds with owners and their pets as I integrate into the wonderful community of Clarence Rockland and surrounding areas. I personally believe that familiarity between myself, the community, your pet and you is the best way to provide exemplary and customized service. ❤️
