We have received some bad news this morning…

As some of you know, our current location has been leased unexpectedly to someone else as of April when our lease is up.

The location we have been waiting on for construction delays and word from the landlord was also just signed with someone else without negotiating with us after months of planning.

That being said, we need your help! If we don’t find a location before April, we will need to close the store. We need about 3,000-3,500sqft for our future plans to work. East Saint John is ideal, but willing to look at other options as well.

We need a more retail location (less warehouse) to get some new brands you have been asking for as well! We hope with your help we can secure a spot in time. Please share with anyone you may know in real estate, business, or to your page!

On this Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served and fought for our freedom. Today, we not only remember the brave men and women in uniform but also the incredible animals who served alongside them.

From loyal military dogs to the horses that carried supplies and even the carrier pigeons delivering life-saving messages across enemy lines, animals have been silent heroes throughout history. These companions showed unwavering loyalty, courage, and strength on the frontlines.

Let us remember and give thanks to all beings—both human and animal—who contributed to the peace we cherish today.

Local this, independent that, franchise who?!?! Here's what you need to know during leading up to Small Business Saturday on November 30th! What are your favourite Independent business's you love to support?

Since the pandemic, there's no hiding the fact of how important supporting local is. Big corporations have caught on to this too and have created clever marketing tricks! Here's some clarification that can be applied to different levels of any business ownership!

💫 Independently Owned & Operated
(Summit Pets, Pet Corral, etc...)
Independently Owned means the business is owned and managed by one or a few members of your community! (Truly local) They own the brand, the store, the products, and any equipment related to the business. They are the brand!

💫 Locally Owned & Operated
(Wendy's, Montana's, Tim Horton's, Canadian Tire, etc...)
Locally owned is where things can get a bit confusing! Did you know, McDonald's is technically locally owned? That's right! The franchise rights are owned by a local person or company (Local could be defined as far as across Atlantic Canada). Locally owned franchises could own 10+ stores with the marketing power and team of a Canada-Wide brand! Percentages of revenue and an annual fee are often due to the central headquarters that could be in Ontario or even out of the country. That's a lot of your money leaving your local economy!

💫 Locally Operated
This is a fun one! We've seen this on many, American-Owned, corporate stores. Locally operated is a clever way of saying they employ local people (that's great too)! But, similar to a franchise, there's a lot of funds that are sent to head office and a small amount stays in your community.

So, it short, to help your local economy the best you can, search for business' that are Independently Owned & Operated! You can see the owner, management, and employees out and about in your own community where the majority of proceeds stay.

Help grow your community and keep your dollar where it matters! It's impossible to stay 100% local, but the more you can the better the community will be. What are your favourite Independent business's you love to support?

Seapora Aquarium Pre-Orders! Get the tank you want before it hits the shelves at Summit Pets! Details below.

We're taking pre-orders for our Seapora order scheduled to arrive next week! Orders must be pre-paid for not normally stocked sizes or for your tank to be held for pickup once it arrives!

Order deadline is Sunday at 5 PM. Orders and payments MUST be finalized before then to be included in the order. If the supplier is out of stock of the size you ordered, we can back order it (wait for availability), issue store credit, or refund your total!

The order SHOULD ship Monday and arrive later next week, but might be the week after. Available tanks to order and pricing can be found at the link below. Dimensions are in the description of each item page.

We take special requests every Saturday morning! Follow the instructions below, very carefully, to ensure a smooth ordering process.

1. Send us a message Saturday morning to allow ample time to check availability, get pricing, and organize your whole order if you decide you want to proceed. (I am the only person and working all day, every day. Customers in store take priority over being at the computer to answer messages. The earlier the better to request)!

2. Once your order has been finalized, the order cutoff is Sunday at 5 PM. Certain items will need to be pre-paid before then. You will be notified if this is the case. (Non-stocked items, rarity items, high-cost, etc...) We have an arrive alive and 24hr guarantee from the supplier.

3. Orders arrive Thursday for pickup. You will be notified if your item will require pickup on that day. (Non-stocked item, no enclosure at the store, etc...)

4. Regular stocked items will be put into inventory (Most freshwater species) We normally order 25-50 at a time. It is recommended to visit the store Friday-Sunday after the order arrives to ensure you get enough of what you requested as we aren't able to hold livestock.

5. PLEASE remember your request does not guarantee you will get it. We might be shorted on the order. If you have pre-paid and this happens, we can either issue a store credit and try again on the next order or issue a full refund!
