Looking for an adoptive home for Mattie, a special needs cat with a story. Mattie was found in Uptown Saint John this fall, very close to death and covered almost head-to-toe in thick, filthy mats (the vet said he'd never seen a case so bad before). Her mats were so tight, her skin had actually torn apart in her armpits and on her legs. She was ill from being on the street for so long, and needed
months of rehabilitation. Now much healthier, it's time for Mattie to go to her permanent home. She is spayed, vaccinated and dewormed, estimated to be about 4-6 years old. Her teeth were in terrible condition when rescued, but a good diet with lots of crunchy kibble has helped immensely. Mattie is a snuggler and prefers a quiet environment. She absolutely hates my dog and cat; she needs to be the only pet in her household. Now here is where finding that perfect match for Mattie becomes really, really important: Mattie is one of those cats that will p*e on absorbent materials to scent-mark her space. So she absolutely needs a home without carpeting, and a human that doesn't leave their clothes or other textiles on the floor (I am a tidier person after fostering her!). Her human will need to be willing to be patient with her making a few mistakes as she transitions into her new home and gets used to the new smells. I can coach her adoptive family through this process if desired. When my other pets aren't at home, she is playful and social, and her absolute favourite thing in the world is any toy made of electrical tape...no expensive pet store toys for this one! I really believe that the right home is out there for Mattie - there is a special person who will have the right home environment and be willing to adapt to her behaviour as I have. If she wasn't so obviously miserable with my other pets around, I'd keep her myself. If you think you are the right human for Mattie, or know someone who is, please contact me! Sara: 506-651-2229
