Odie's surgery dates are this week for his eye and neuter. He's a fabulous boy who would love to find a home soon. He is joyous and happy to meet people and has been friendly to all dogs he has met. We have heard he has lived with cats in his previous life.
It's often the unexpected cats that end up being these great dog testers. Bowen arrived as a fearful adolescent cat back in 2023. She was adopted and came back due to her owner's signifcant health issues, adopted and then came back again as her owner said she seemed not to be eating. She has been back with us a little while and she has just been a funny little cat to watch. Because she was a bit timid originally it was a surprise that she seemed very curious and cheeky about dogs, coming up to the door to have a look, so today she met a couple of teenage pups and seemed to delight in being a big boss cat. 🥰🤣. We are hoping that her third time is forever. She deserves the best home as they all do.
Odie hasn't met a stranger yet. He is very playful, and is just the kindest little guy. He met many dogs today and he adjusted to every one of them. Male and female. With this little gal, he quickly learned that she was a bit timid of him if he got too silly, so he didn't do any wham, bam stuff.
We have another bit of a special needs kitty who came back to us at 11 years old when her owner was going into care. Originally Harmony with us in 2014, she is now Dinah. Dinah came in with two other kitties, Tempo and Rhythm who are still in their homes. They were always quite fearful but not feral. As you can imagine it's very stressful for Dinah to come back after 10 years, but she is making great progress in feeling safe. We are looking for a quiet hoe for Dinah. Someone who will let her blossom at her own pace. A real cat person :). If that's you, let us know.
Adorable Martina is still waiting for someone to fall in love with her. She is such a dear little cat.
Odie had a little trip to the beach this afternoon (if you are hot, head to the Ganong Nature Park). He was a bit timid about the water, didn't seem to have much experience with it, but was game to try it out. 🥰
LONGEST RESIDENT - Friar has really blossomed since he came back. Some cats just take longer to feel safe and Friar needs someone that's going to give him a few weeks to feel comfortable. He enjoys coming out to play now and his favourite toy is the one in this video. Friar is not comfortable about being handled or picked up and though he's been civil to the other cats he's met, he's not the biggest fan of them.
Angel out for a walk in the big city of St. Stephen :). She lived a very small rural life so is not used to a lot of traffic and people noise. She is a bit nervous, but happy to take things in. She's not been reactive, but just a bit skittish. Distance is a friend in these situations. This was a good spot for her to just absorb all that was happening around her. She is only a baby at under 8 months old. There are lots of "firsts" for her to experience.

The "Inbetween" cats. Friar came to us back in October and was adopted earlier in the year and came back to us in April as he was not progressing as his adopter would have liked to see. Originally from a colony on Campobello, Friar is not a feral, but he's also quite reserved and does not like a lot of handling and needs a home where his people are content to let him come to them. His caretaker at the time tried to bring him in, but he bullied her cats, but outdoors he was the one getting bullied. This is a little video of Friar coming out to interact with Maria. When it's quiet he feels safe to check things out. If you think you can offer Friar a home where he can blossom at his own pace, let's chat. The shelter is not a great place for cats who are shy.
Echo's getting ready for her big surgery day. She will need to stay still for a little bit and having her trained for crate will be very beneficial.
People had asked about Lucy (Moose's friend). Lucy is doing very well. She has lost a pound and her energy is up. She is a playful little gal. A bit of her running around this morning before the heat kicked in.
Gillian is feeling great after her dental surgery. Short little clip from last night. She enjoyed a little lickable tube of food and was all purrs. Thank you to Dr. Rosamund Mayfield Veterinary Clinic and staff for wonderful care.
A little playtime with Gillian who will be getting her dental surgery this week. When she was dropped off we were given her age as 9, but a family member was in contact and confirmed that Gillian is more like 18 (as is her housemate Heidi, but they are not fond of each other - Heidi is much more reserved). Gillian acts like a much younger kitty. She is curious and active and loves to play. The family member said that she was an adept mouser and we have no doubt as she doesn't miss anything that moves. Thank you to all who have donated to the Fat Pie Shop fundraiser thus far to help her on her journey to a pain free mouth. 🥰
Gracie recently came back to us when her owner passed away. Very sweet and gentle adult tabby. Gracie did live with a dog and we believe another cat.
