This stunning Collie-Lab mix is the perfect balance of cuddles and energy, making her a fantastic addition to an active family.

Cindy adores people and thrives on affection. She’s great with dogs, other pets, and kids, always eager to make new friends. With her playful and energetic personality, she’d excel in agility or any activity that keeps her moving. Despite her high energy, she’s incredibly sweet and loving, always ready to shower you with loyalty and affection.

She’s house trained and making great progress with basic commands, though she’s still working on consistency.

🐾 Mickey, Mickey,
You're so fine🐾

Mickey is a sweet and gentle Collie/Rottweiler mix with big paws and an even bigger heart. Born on November 28, 2024, this affectionate pup is already showing his loyal nature and eagerness to bond with his future family.

With a mix of Collie, Rottweiler, and other large-breed genetics, Mickey is expected to grow into a strong, beautiful dog with a naturally protective yet loving temperament. His mom is a Collie mix (we have photos!), and his dad is reportedly a neighboring Rottweiler mix—so he’s sure to be both intelligent and devoted.

While his energy level will likely be moderate, Mickey’s training needs will be high—he’ll thrive with structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement to become the well-mannered companion he’s meant to be. He’s already doing well with crate training and making great progress with house training. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but with patience and guidance, he’ll master it in no time.

Though he can be a little shy at first, Mickey quickly warms up and adores people, other dogs, and even cats! He’s a snuggly, kind-hearted boy who loves attention and affection. He’s also a winter enthusiast—cold weather doesn’t bother him one bit, and he loves romping around in the snow.

🐾Meet Daisy – Your Future Gentle Giant!🐾

Daisy is a sweetheart in every sense of the word. This gorgeous pup is going to be very large, with a mix of Collie, Rottweiler, and other big-breed genetics. Her mom is a Collie mix (we have photos!), and her dad is reportedly a neighboring Rottweiler mix—so expect a big, beautiful dog who will be naturally protective and eager to bond with her family.

Though she’s a bit timid at first, Daisy is proving to be a gentle giant in the making. She’s already excellent in her crate, hasn’t had any accidents in the house, and is wonderful with kids—she doesn’t jump up and is happy to snuggle. She’s great with other dogs but would also be content as the only pup in the home. She’s left the cat alone, though she seems a little unsure about her feline housemate.

Daisy is still figuring out what she’s supposed to do on a leash, so she’ll need a family committed to training and socialization. While her energy level will likely be moderate, her training needs will be high—she’ll thrive with structure and consistency to become the loyal, well-mannered companion she’s meant to be.

Meet Poppy – Your Perfect Adventure Buddy! Poppy is a 9-month-old mystery mutt with a potcake-like face and a body that’s all legs and lightness. We originally guessed shepherd/beagle, but she’s too dainty for that—so let’s just call her a lovable, medium-sized, one-of-a-kind pup! Poppy is the definition of a happy, social butterfly. She adores people of all ages and gets along great with other dogs. She settled into her foster home like warm butter, instantly making herself at home with her goofy, affectionate personality. This girl needs an active family to keep up with her energy. She’ll need plenty of walks, training, and engagement to be her best self. She crates well (and should be crated when left alone—your baseboards will thank you). She’s a young dog with lots to learn but is eager to please! Poppy came to us as a stray after being unclaimed at the local shelter. While we don’t know her past, we do know her future looks bright with the right family! She’s fully vetted, microchipped, and ready to find her forever home. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, and active companion who will keep you moving and laughing, Poppy is your girl! We love second hand dogs and second hand dogs love second hand goods! If you have any of the following items laying around, we would put them to good use - lots of puppies mean lots of chewing! Puppies love puzzle toys, kongs, rubber bones etc.
We accept donations at Myrtle (689 Talbot St) and also have volunteers who can do local pick ups.

Meet Tiny!
Hi everyone, I’m Tiny, and I’m ready to find my forever home!

I’m a 3-year-old, 6 lb long-haired Chihuahua/Shih-Tzu mix with the sweetest little face and a heart full of hope. ❤️

Life hasn’t been easy for me—I came from a difficult past where I didn’t get the love and care every dog deserves. But with the help of my foster mom and her kind foster dogs, I’ve learned what it means to be a happy, cherished pup.

Here’s what you should know about me:

🐾 I’m very sweet, just a little shy. I want to trust humans, and I’ve made amazing progress!
🐾 I’m fully potty trained—yay me!
🐾 I love food and treats (who doesn’t?), which has helped me bond and gain confidence.
🐾 I sleep peacefully in my crate all night, like a good boy.
🐾 I now confidently approach my foster mom, though I still appreciate patience with handling.
🐾 I’m fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my shots. I even had a dental cleaning, so my little smile is extra adorable!

The perfect home for me would:

✔️ Be quiet and predictable, where I can continue to build trust.
✔️ Have another small dog who can show me the ropes and be my buddy.
✔️ Be filled with love, patience, and understanding to help me continue to thrive.

Welcome to the Disney Litter! Mickey & Minnie have matching mustaches, Donald is our black & tan and Daisy is rounding out the crew! These are extra large mixes of likely 4 or more breeds. All big dogs, we have photos of mama dog, and dad was reportedly a Rottweiler mix. So far this litter is chill. Follow along for updates as we get to know these cuties!

Whoops! I mean it was SEVEN dog weekend 🫣 Please welcome Cindy! She’s a sibling of our recently adopted Wilbur & Orville. At 5 months she’s already spayed, microchipped, vaccines and treated for intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks. If she’s anything like her brothers, Cindy is smart, active and social! She will be ready for adoption very soon.

At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (MARS), we believe that no dog should go hungry and no family should have to make the heartbreaking choice of giving up a beloved pet due to food insecurity. That’s why we’ve launched the MARS Kibble Crew – a volunteer-driven program dedicated to providing free dog food to families in need.

If you are a St. Thomas resident in need of assistance, reach out to us via:

Once we receive your request, our Kibble Crew volunteers will deliver food directly to your door – no judgment, just support.

The food in our pantry comes from a variety of sources, including donations, overstock, and recently expired food from manufacturers. All food is in its original sealed packaging and is strictly not for resale.

This initiative is an essential part of our mission: keeping dogs in loving homes. Food insecurity shouldn’t force families to surrender their pets—let’s keep bowls full and tails wagging!

We've only just begun, and the need is so high. If you are inspired by Betty White Day - it is her birthday today, consider buying a puppy a cookie! Any amount makes a difference - you can send and EFT to [email protected] or drop any treats, supplies (just ask us, we have a list of needs - pee pads, canned food are on the top!) We have several dogs in rescue awaiting homes, some in rough shape who are working through much needed vet care. We are so happy that the legacy of Betty White continues, we needed her to stay forever. And now - enjoy a slide show of adorable pooches!
