Quart Training
Hello, everyone.
The puppy video is embarrassingly late, but the puppy training is still going steady "behind the scenes."
Hello, everyone.
Here's a video I filmed yesterday explaining what is happening with Mouse.
She is an extremely happy, smart, and attentive puppy, she but she has coordination issues -- she stumbles around when she walks (although it appears to be getting less frequent) and she needs help going down the stairs, otherwise she trips and rolls down them.
We are going to keep her until we can get the vet's opinion.
We will keep everyone updated. In the meantime, as she will be part of the family for the foreseeable future, we have Deena Regis Solarium ... AKA "Dizzy Dean."
An update on the 9 weeks video update --- I have now recorded the footage and am in the process of editing. I apologize for the delay. I am very new to this filming/video editing business and the process always takes much longer than I expect...
Hello, everyone.
A bit of a longer video today. Watch the puppies run around in the wet snow while I chat a bit about what I'm working on.
Watch from 4 minutes to the end of the video to see 9 week old puppies performing PHENOMENAL recall ... I am so proud of them π₯°
4 puppies are left at home now, though Brash (formerly Tippy) is going to his new home tomorrow.
That leaves 3 puppies looking for new homes: Quart, Dot, and Mouse.

Puppies Learning Boundaries
Hello, everyone.
A short video of the puppies learning boundaries from their Aunt Maggie. She may look and sound menacing, but it's all extremely controlled, she is actually being very gentle and careful with them.
She is teaching them to recognize the cues of dog warnings and body language. When a dog is being threatening, when they are receiving warnings, when to back off, and when you can come in.
Come look at our stories on instagram @crystalrosedogs.bc for more little clips of the puppies playing in the backyard and on the screened-in deck yesterday!
Maggie and Axiom
Hello everyone,
Today's video is a blast from the past -- my other female, Maggie had a litter on November 29th, 2020, and I thought some of you may be interested to see what one of her pups looks like now at 1 year old.
Maggie is Noel's full-blooded sister, but we used a different stud for Maggie's litter.
Mr. Axiom Chronicle Smith is a Sharpull Terrier (Shar-Pei x American Bulldog x Staffordshire Bull Terrier)
How I interact with puppies as a dog breeder
Hi everyone,
A video on how I interact with the puppies at this stage in their lives.
With Walter leaving for his new home on Sunday and Borg getting picked up on Monday, I wanted to share a little bit of my breeding philosophy and how I try to implement it in real time.
I can't believe that the puppies are just about ready to leave to their new homes. I feel like it's come up on me really abruptly this time around. It's been a crazy ride, but so much fun!
I apologize for my less-than-refined video skills. I get to talking and looking at the puppies and forget to look and see if I even have any puppies in the shot π€¦!!! Also, the video ends mid-sentence because I went to reach for Enzo and accidentally turned off the recording π€¦ββοΈ!
I hope the video isn't too painful to watch ... the good news, at least, is that this leaves me plenty of room for improvement in the future ;)
Ramp Success!!!
First ever ramp success!
I called to the puppies from the bottom of the ramp. I'm kicking myself for not having my phone on me to record the first two puppies coming down the ramp, but to be honest I didn't think they'd come, much less come down the ramp all the way!
Oh well, live and learn. Glad to have caught some of it for you guys. Sorry for my screechy voice ... I got a bit excited!
They are becoming so independent!
4 week old puppies drinking water and exploring their world.
The puppies have learned to drink water! Now they're running around jumping on each other (and me!) and exploring the room, which makes for good teaching opportunities when they start sniffing things they shouldn't!
December 18th, 2020. Puppies' eyes are opening....Chaos and Mayhem Ensues!
Happy 6 months birthday to all of Maggie's puppies out there!
The puppies were born between 4:15am and 6:36am on November 29th, 2020. They were feisty and hilarious from the moment their eyes started opening, and I'm willing to bet they're still all feisty and hilarious to this day.
These Shar-Pei x Bull crosses are full of energy and personality. They can be stubborn and single-minded in what they do, but they are also extremely loving and happy. I fell in love with the breed when I got Maggie, and I'm hoping that we will have more litters in the future (still waiting for Noel to go into heat).
In any case, happy half birthday to our very first litter! :)
A special thought also goes out to Vern, who is no longer with us. My husband and I think of him often, and we know his family does too. Vern will always be in our hearts. R.I.P little buddy <3
A Video of Kali!
Hello, everyone.
I'm so thrilled to have received a video of Kali yesterday.
Kali was the only female of Maggie's first litter. At 7 weeks old, she was as cute as a button -- by far the cutest of the bunch! Now, at 5 months old, she appears to be growing into quite the beautiful dog.
Thank you so much to Kali's owner for thinking of sharing this with me (and for giving me permission to share with all of you!)
Dog pack plays in the backyard.
Hello, everyone.
I haven't posted a video in a long time because the weather has been all over the map. Either it's been really cold and icy, or it's been quite warm and extremely muddy.
In any case, here's a video of Nell, Maggie and Axiom figuring out the new pack dynamic in the backyard. Axiom is starting to approach Nell more and more.
We're still looking for a stud for Noel. Message us if you're interested :)
