Kraken is our silver linings boy here at the shelter. We call him our silver linings boy, because of the silver hairs peppered throughout his thick, black winter coat.

He was just neutered, and is now available for adoption!

Big Announcement - A specialty location for cat grooming is finally coming to the Sunshine Coast!

I am moving away from house-call on the Sunshine Coast and building a cat-exclusive salon in the heart of Sechelt for my clients to receive the best quality grooming possible.

Why am I doing this?
Through pursuing a second certification in professional cat grooming with the National Cat Groomers Institute I’ve learned how important a bath and blowdry with proper degreaser cat soap is to prevent matting, hairballs, shedding, and minimize upkeep needed at home.
To make the responsible choice as a groomer who wants the best for their extended fur-family I’ve decided to make changes that can give my clients the best result I can create by building a specialized CAT ONLY location with equipment selected specifically for a standardized cat-grooming process.

Where is the salon located?
My new salon is located in Sechelt, BC. 5672 Cowrie Street is the address but have a separate entrance and dedicated parking that is accessible on Mermaid Street..

When is this change happening?
Construction has begun and we are hoping to open for appointments as of March 2025.

Clients who have existing appointments in February will be unaffected. I am not booking any new appointments for February but I have a CALL LIST going for people to contact once I am booking appointments for my new location. I’ll come take them off your hands for cat grooming! All colors and sizes, stained or with some holes is fine as long as they’re in moderately well condition.

Can you help our sweet boy?? Jalapeño’s journey hasn’t been easy. This brave 3-year-old cat was found alone at a truck stop, struggling to survive. Brought to LAPS by a concerned passer-by, he arrived with swollen, crusted eyes, a respiratory infection, and ear mites. Diagnosed with Entropion (a painful condition where his eyelashes are scraping his eyes) he now needs a specialist surgery to save his vision after his firsts surgery didn’t heal as planned.

Jalapeño has been in our care for 100 days battling this condition and waiting for a chance to see the world pain-free. He needs your help.. the TOTAL cost of his surgeries and all of his care is around $6,000 and we want to make sure he gets everything he needs as he is such a deserving boy. Hello coast cat lovers 👋 🐱

Some statistics to start with - I welcomed almost 100 new clients onto my service list in 2024 🤯 at an average of 2 cats per household that’s a lot of new cats I met!

I am currently booking for the week of January 19th and onward as I have a week full of business meetings coming up this week! I’m already half way booked through that work week so if you’re looking to have your cat groomed in January make sure to reach out ASAP!

Exciting new changes coming to this small business this year for your local cat groomer.

Ps: if your cat loves churu treats as much as mine does, try putting it in the freezer for them! They’ll lick-chase that ice cube around the floor and it will keep them entertained twice as long 😉

Hello Coast Cat people 👋 Curious about what your local cat groomer is up too?

I’ve just purchased the National Cat Groomers Institute complete syllabus as the next step to my journey of becoming a certified Master Cat Groomer. Many of you know I have been studying under other NCGI groomers for some time now. I value the education provided by this institution because it aligns with my personal values when it comes to cat grooming: No scruffing, no pinning, the less stress the better so we can spend more time loving our cat and less time stressing about shedding/matting/hairballs.

This year we will also begin our search for a physical location in Sechelt to offer cat grooming services on a regular schedule at a more affordable rate. As I learn more about professional level cat grooming I have come to understand how important bathing is to the process and unfortunately bathing cats in a comfortable and sustainable manner for my body is not something every home is set up for. Having a physical location will allow me to improve and maintain my quality of work while still servicing the community as the only ((as far as I know!)) cat-exclusive & specialty groomer on the Sunshine Coast.

But fear not, big changes are on the horizon and we are coming up with lots of ideas for how to continue to provide accessible cat grooming for the seniors, cats, and persons in our community that don’t drive or handle transit well.

I am also partnering in this new year with a new buisness associate who aims to provide house-call bathing to dogs of any size/breed on the coast, so more on that in the new year will come.

For now I am hitting the books and studying up on how to continue to provide excellent care and service to my community!
