Had a blast last night getting to play around with a new technique for the Halifax County Exhibition.
These are a modified version of a classic dressage ball known as scalloped braids. They're a great option for horses with long, thick manes, as they reduce the amount of trimming needing to be done ✂️

This year we will be offering a full slate of all-breed/open classes on Saturday and Sunday of our Canada Day Classic and Summer Sizzler with their own flat fee/show fees.
MQHA is also adding a full slate of ranch classes to all 3 shows this year.

For those wondering about availability of my services, I plan on making myself available for the Coveside Show Series. Preference will be given to clients with onsite stabling, but I am open to travelling, within reason. Pm for more details and to book your spot!

I’ve received a few messages about pricing and availability. Below is my price list for show services.
The prices for my services are based on the cost of materials, as well as the tools necessary to do them, but mostly, they are based on time. While braiding a single mane is not an all night endeavour, the time it takes to learn to braid well is endless. Braiders spend hours trying to find ways to make our work as stunning as possible. We will talk to each other, looking for tips and tricks to get the braids to lie just so.
Time also includes time spent driving out to venues, and the gas to get there.
As for availability: I am currently planning on braiding at the MQHA shows in Sussex, NB, and have had some interest regarding the Coveside series. Please note that I do maintain a strict 6 horse nightly maximum, so booking will be first come first serve.

As previously mentioned, the proof is in the product. This album will be used to showcase examples of manes I have braided. As you can see, I’ve had a few repeat clients 😊
I offer braiding in matching natural coloured yarn or contrasting colours, at my clients’ discretion. Charms can also be braided if they are left in advance, for a little added ✨sparkle.✨
What many people don’t know is that the length and condition of the mane can have a huge impact on how they turn out. This is why I believe communication with my clients on mane prep expectations are of the utmost importance. Thicker manes need to be left slightly longer, and thinner manes trimmed slightly shorter. The length and thickness of your horses mane will determine the size and number of braids that goes into the final braid job. If you have any questions or concerns about this, feel free to reach out for us to discuss 😊

Hello Everyone!
My name is Joelle, and I am the proud provider of turnout services including braiding, banding, and mane tidying services in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
What started as a way for my parents to save money has turned into a passion for beautiful braids and luxurious tails. Originally from the the Ottawa area, I grew up competing in the hunter/jumper circuits, where my coaches impressed upon me the importance of good turnout. I truly believe that a stunningly groomed horse completes the show ring picture, and my goal is to help you stand out, whether that be with braids, bands, and maybe some extra ✨flair✨.
Those who know me will attest, I like a little bit of flash. This want for glitz and glam has been toned down over the years, but I still believe a pop of colour (within reason 😉) can help you stand out in the show ring. This is why I also offer my braiding clients the choice of natural or coloured yarn.
No matter what you choose, I appreciate all my clients, and I look forward to working with you!
