The Rescue Room Serenity Guinea Pig Rescue

With animal rescues and shelters in crisis due to the unprecedented number of surrendered and stray animals, we want to help highlight all the animal rescues across Canada!

Tag them and give them a shout out so we can help bring them more awareness. Let’s give them some social media love for all their hard work! The work they do saves so many lives, but we also know that it can be heartbreaking and exhausting work. Let them know you see them and appreciate them. 💕💕💕💕

We also want to extend an invitation to them to attend Dorchester Pet Fest for FREE so they can share their work and animals available to adopt with everyone who attends!

Bam Bam 💥

Intact male 1.5 years old

He is an incredibly sweet boy who would do well with someone who can give him cuddles and maybe some furry siblings to play with! He is slightly shy when trying to pick him up but melts in your arms as soon as you do.
He is used to Guinea pigs and kinda thinks he is one.

Favourite snacks: oxbow cookies of any kind, Rosewood carrotys, peopers, apples, tomatoes, and any other veggie he can get his hands on 😂

Piggies are inherently shy as they are prey animals . They take a lot of patience and love ❤️

Please don’t dump your animals. They are best in your care at diminished interaction than dumped or put into an overcrowded rescue while you are trying to re-home them. It’s less taxing on their mental and physical health.

To the individual who deemed it necessary to abandon a piggy and potentially more in my backyard, I must express my disappointment and concern. While I am dedicated to rescuing pigs, it is important to note that I also have large dogs. Had I not been present outside at that precise moment to witness the piggy darting across the yard, the outcome could have been unpredictable and potentially dangerous.

I understand that both rescue organizations and pet owners are facing numerous challenges, but I implore you to refrain from such actions. Dumping an animal significantly diminishes its chances of survival, inflicts unnecessary trauma, and places an additional burden on those of us who are already financially strained by caring for numerous pigs. If you find yourself in a situation where you feel compelled to abandon your pets, I kindly request that you inform us about the severity of the circumstances so that we can reach out to the community for support and make every effort to assist.

This approach is far more responsible and compassionate.

I urge everyone to consider alternative solutions when faced with difficult circumstances involving their pets. Abandoning animals is not only detrimental to their well-being but also places an undue burden on those who are already working tirelessly to provide care and find suitable homes for these animals.

If you are unable to keep your guinea pig and are looking to surrender it to a rescue organization, you can contact us by emailing us at [email protected]

I am deeply disturbed by the increasing number of abandoned animals in recent times. It is important for individuals to refrain from adopting pets if they anticipate the possibility of leaving them outside or struggling to find suitable placements within their desired timeframes which unfortunately is a reality when you are looking to surrender to a rescue.

The piggy I found is now safe, and I have set a live trap after looking myself with a few others. I swear I heard something in the pumpkin patch, but I'm hoping it was my ears playing tricks on me.

Available for Adoption

This is Stuart Little

He is a 1.5 yr old male rat. Despite his red eyes, he has full sight and hearing. His elderly cage mate has passed away and he needs a buddy. He is extremely smart and loving. He would benefit from going to a home with another rat and/or a family who is rat savvy and has time to play with him daily.

He eats rat ration food and loves snacks including peppers, dried seeds, carrots, apple, berries, cucumber, and tomatoes.

This has probably been the hardest and most heartbreaking week here. We are currently dealing with a wave of rampant viral infection amongst the piggies. 3 passed before we could even get them to a vet. We also lost one of our permanent residents Smores due to GI stasis despite our best efforts. Another pig was bitten by a cage mate and developed a bruise. We now have a large vet bill and 5 sick piggies that are in quarantine and being treated with antibiotics and pain meds.

Any donations to help are greatly appreciated.

If you would like to donate:
Etransfer: [email protected]
Food, veggie, amd hay donations are also extremely helpful.

Butterscotch (left) and daddy Caramel (right) are the sweetest boys I’ve ever had. If you are thinking of getting Guinea pigs, consider this pair. Boys are often left behind during adoptions because they can only be in pairs. However, they deserve so much love and can give the best love and snuggles!
