The Purrfect Place: A Guesthouse for Cats

The Purrfect Place: A Guesthouse for Cats The Purrfect Place, A Guesthouse for Cats, was envisioned and created by single mom Lori Koop and her two teenage boys, Khyrin and Nicholas Collier.

As caretakers of over 8 cats themselves, they decided to put their love of and passion for people of the feline purrsuasion to good use with their commitment to care for others' beloved furpurrsons. We noticed that there was a lack of cats-only facilities in the Bulkley Valley and the region, so in 2019, we started planning The Purrfect Place. Purpose & Values
Simply put, we care about cats in all

life phases. We honour and respect all their various personalities and quirks, and are deeply committed to learning as much as possible about their behaviour and what brings them the most joy. The Difference: Why Use Us? We offer a quiet, cats-only rural setting. We are committed to bringing your cat the most restful, safe, clean, and loving environment during their stay. Our goal is always to keep them happy, healthy and settled while they are with us. Services & Offerings
We have three floor to ceiling apartments, for the active cat, and 2 half size apartments for the
older, pregnant/nursing or injured cat. All are full of perches, scratching posts and climbing
opportunities. Each apartment has it's own window, so cats can "watch TV" and a cozy, bedlined box for catnaps and sleeping. We provide cardboard boxes as well (studies have show
than they help to keep cats de-stressed) and toys for batting around. Occasionally, they get a bit of catnip to increase their entertainment factor. All cat guests receive our personal time for cuddles and playtime in the common area.

I have a big sweet boi like this named Tigerstar. A stray/dump, beat up my cats for a lot of years, until two autumns ago it was cold. i was in the garden cleaning up and he was close by mowling. He'd never let me touch him before, but I brought him some food, and that was it. I spent the rest of the afternoon carrying him around. He was so starved for love. If I didn't give him the loves he wanted RIGHT NOW he'd bite or claw my ankles, like, hard. lol. We just learned to wear thick socks and thick skin. He's our big boy, and now a permanent resident of our kennel, The Purrfect Place. He's now fixed and happy not to ever have to go outside and fight again.

I hope Jake finds his forever retirement home. They all deserve love and security, as thorny as they can be. πŸ’–πŸΎπŸ’–

"I find it most peculiar that
They mock the spinster with her cat,
But beam through sentimental fog
Each time the bachelor walks his dog."

Some of you know I do this, and some of you don't. If you don't have family cats, you probably know someone who does, and I ask that you pass this advert along. House sitters are the best option, but failing that, there's us at The Purrfect Place.

Here are five essential cat care tips to ensure your feline friend's health and happiness:

1. **Proper Nutrition**: Provide a balanced and appropriate diet for your cat based on their age, weight, and health condition. Cats are obligate carnivores, so their diet should primarily consist of high-quality animal-based protein. Consult with your veterinarian to choose the best cat food and feeding schedule.

2. **Regular Veterinary Check-ups**: Schedule regular visits to the veterinarian for preventive care and health check-ups. Routine vaccinations, parasite control, dental care, and early detection of any health issues are crucial to maintaining your cat's well-being.

3. **Enrichment and Play**: Cats need mental and physical stimulation to thrive. Offer interactive toys, scratching posts, and climbing structures to keep them engaged. Spend quality playtime with your cat daily, as it helps strengthen your bond and prevents boredom-related behavioral problems.

4. **Litter Box Hygiene**: Keep the litter box clean by scooping it at least once a day and doing a complete litter change regularly. Cats are clean animals and prefer a tidy environment for their bathroom needs. Place the litter box in a quiet and accessible location.

5. **Grooming**: Regular grooming is essential to keep your cat's coat and skin healthy. Brush your cat's fur to remove loose hair and reduce hairballs. Long-haired cats may require more frequent grooming to prevent matting. Additionally, check their ears, eyes, and teeth regularly for any signs of issues.

Remember, each cat is unique, so observe your feline companion's behavior and preferences to tailor their care accordingly. Providing love, attention, and a safe environment are fundamental aspects of responsible cat ownership.

Leaving your beloved feline friend at a cat boarding facility can be a daunting experience for both you and your cat. However, with proper preparation, you can ensure your cat has a comfortable and stress-free stay. In this post, we'll share some tips on how to prepare your cat for their upcoming boarding experience.

Gradual Introduction to a Carrier:
If your cat is not used to being in a carrier, start familiarizing them with it several weeks before their boarding stay. Leave the carrier out in a common area with the door open, allowing your cat to explore it at their own pace. You can add treats, toys, or a blanket with your scent to make the carrier more inviting.

Pack Familiar Items:
To help your cat feel more comfortable during their stay, pack some familiar items from home, such as their favorite blanket, bed, or toys. These items will provide a sense of familiarity and comfort in the new environment.

Provide Detailed Information about Your Cat:
When dropping your cat off, be sure to provide us with detailed information about your cat's habits, preferences, and any special needs they may have. This will help us care for your cat in the best possible way and ensure their stay is as comfortable as possible.

Maintain a Calm Goodbye:
Although it’s natural to feel emotional when leaving your cat, try to remain calm during the drop-off process. Cats can sense your emotions, and if you're anxious or upset, it may increase their stress levels. Say a quick, reassuring goodbye and trust that your cat is in good hands.
Remember, a well-prepared cat is more likely to have a comfortable and stress-free boarding experience.
